And then there is the good ol' Mystery Science Theater 3000 approach:

IMHO Disney, I think you're too sensitive about this. It's a cartoon. Nobody was actually hurt.

I like watching violence. It's cathartic. The more interesting the fight, the more I like it. I don't mind Wondy getting the living hell beat out of her, as long as she eventually wins. Same goes for any hero. The struggle is interesting and entertaining to watch. The tougher the adversary, the sweeter the victory. I do draw the line at sexual abuse and torn porn.

However, that's only in fictional settings. I have no interest in hurting other people and won't watch "blood sports" like boxing and MMA. Heck, I don't even hunt (although I have no problem with other people who do).

If you can draw the line between reality and fiction, violence is not a problem. Parents need to monitor what their kids watch. Don't "dumb down" conflicts. The more realistic, the better.

Okay, so just so this doesn't devolve any further - I'm not going to comment anymore on other people's feelings (rants?) regarding Mattel. Isn't that the point of that old expression, "nothing nice to say don't say anything at all?"

Yes, Mattel is not perfect. Heck, I stopped collecting this line for years because of all the problems! You won't see me defending them to the death. But these last packs were a very pleasant surprise, so I'm happy they're coming out and leaving it at that.

I just don't want people getting offended and arguing with each other. It makes this place less fun when that happens.

I had a difficult time watching that kind of violence, period. Wonder Woman's face getting pounded into the ground is not something I want to see.

But as for the suggestions, Khunds might work, but I don't care about 'em  Kilowog is a great idea An-Gel, but maybe this body is too big?

I look forward to seeing your efforts regardless :)

Funny thing... I've always found the torturing of children by Granny Goodness far more disturbing than any fight Wonder Woman could have with Mongul or any other alien.

I definitely agree. Granny's sweet-voiced "why don't you just give up Scott?" is truly unnerving, in a great way. Because so many people use that tactic to torture in real life. And that's something that can be shown on television, for an audience of children or adults and they'll get it.

Wait, what...??? No, no, no, no, no! There is no "great way" to torture children. What's this... Kony2012?

Diana was fighting to save the whole planet essentially, and Mongul was trying to kill her quickly so he could move on to Batman. Totally get that. But maybe they could have strayed a little from the source material in this case to give us a battle that didn't show a frankly underwhelming villain easily putting his hands around the neck of (arguably) the most Important Female Character in the DC Universe (and certainly a symbol of feminine Strength and Equality), and instead show us how Diana fights when her moment of truth arrives, and all those years of Amazon training come into play.

Sounds to me like you put Wondie on a pedestal and your biggest issue lies with her being bested by a villain that you find is "beneath" her. But from my standpoint, she gave as good as she got; meaning she is more Warrior than Victim and by no means "the weaker sex."

Plus, the reality of the situation is that Mongul was a precursor to Doomsday & Bane. And for this story in particular, he was envisioned by Alan Moore (way back in 1985), as a Goliath of a monster who was smart enough... and strong enough... to also put his hands around Superman's neck and defeat all 3 of DC's Powerhouses. In the end, the whole David vs. Goliath motiff, was played out by Robin being the one who comes to Superman's rescue with Black Mercy in tow.

One of my beliefs as a WW fan is that she uses her fighting skills with discretion. JL/JLU made her much more hot tempered and action-ready than I liked. FTMWHE came at a point when I was tired of seeing Diana brawl. Though I do like the episode, I find it hard to watch because it's just more of the producers thinking Diana's biggest value is in her fists (again, that's how it feels to watch it when 90% of her screen-time is brawling, even if it is a story from a comic created years earlier).

I feel the same, I hated WW in JLU about 98% of the time, and essentially that's what they did with Superman too (supposedly to make up for him not being as large and powerful in the first season.) But I found the over aggressive-ness of many of the JLU characters very lame, which is why I prefer earlier seasons.
I agree with DB about having WW so weak, I feel she should have been able to do more damage to Mongul... eventually he would have come out on top as he IS more powerful. But I did feel like they powered down everyone in this episode except Mongul, (based on a comic or not, this is JLU, they never have stayed exact to source material, so they could have done more here IMO)

ALMOST GONE.

I hope everybody who wanted a Mongul, got him. I would hate for anyone to miss out just
because they thought they would be on sale later like the 7-pack that didn't come back.

I figured that would happen relatively soon. They said they were going to reduce the production number and it looks like they meant it.

Yep. Because Sold Out isn't necessarily due to actual selling of product on Matty, but is dictated by the withholding of stock at time when Matty finds it convenient. If I knew for certain that I could bundle multiple Matty items together, I would do so in a heartbeat. Especially with the JLU stuff. But Matty has artificial control of such things, like those other auction sites that you have to buy bids on.

Besides, 'Almost Gone' or 'Sold Out' has an invisible Matty disclaimer: Almost Gone/Sold Out but not fast enough.

WWE stuff doesn't do that, it's stays for months so maybe sold out means sold out or they just do that for everything but WWE and the essentials.

Thanks for the update An-Gel! I won't be getting him, simply because I don't care much for the character. Again, I don't dislike him...I'm just too indifferent, even though the final sculpt looks great.

Aww, see I knew someone would think that :P I guess I just had issues with them doing something as major as a character putting their hands around her neck, in what amounts to a throw-away moment. It's like how Diana's lasso snapped in "Twilight" while she was fighting that forest monster. I was like  :x because....that's the indestructable LASSO OF TRUTH! Broken by some random forest beast??? SERIOUSLY!??

When GL's ring was chopped off his hand, it was at a hugely climactic moment in the JL series. That worked because he had serious personal issues with his foe. Diana getting choked by Mongul...a Superman villain with only one (rather lame) previous appearance to his name?? It didn't feel earned.

And there was an imbalance in terms of how WW characters were treated on JL/JLU. Let me ask this: Did you see Cheetah clawing up the Flash's face to the point where he was almost dead? Did Ares' plans require an intervention on the part of the entire League? Did Circe turn Batman into a rodent slave? Nope. Even though Circe is famously a sexist character, whereas I'm not really sure if Mongul is. I mean, the woman literally turns men into beasts for her amusement! But Batman comes along and she's all "ooh, just sing for me and I'm happy!"

So yeah, Diana getting treated by Mongul the way she was irked me and not just because I like her a lot. I also dislike Toyman killing Superman in "Hereafter" for similar reasons (even though they probably did it that way because it wasn't a "real" death).

I guess Mongul felt a little bit 'Mary Sue'-like in the episode. Suddenly back, suddenly 200% more imposing, suddenly about to take over the world, and tossing around the #1 heroine, while torturing the top two good guys.

Oh I agree there, 100%.

So it was WW, Bats and Robin trying to save Superman from Mongul in the book?

Oh, it's not like I spend days and days shaking in a corner over it :) The episode just generated a lot of thoughts with regards to how violence is portrayed. My apologies if I went on a bit too much...don't want to derail the actual topic here!

LOL, no I'm endorsing it silly. I just mean I applaud the writers for the way they wrote Granny in that episode (the rest wasn't so great mind you). It's easy to just write a lazy fight scene, but showing Granny taunting him in such a "loving" way is much more mature and interesting.

Kalibak, the "Khunds" are some alien characters that popped up in the Wonder Woman books from time to time.

So...when does the three pack with Hippolyta come out again?
