Hey, I'm not the one who's making the ad hominem attacks or the one with the political signature. So don't talk to me about adding politics to the thread.

Well, the best advice I can give here is to avoid political trash talk or aligning political ideals to topics on a forum... as it always ends messy.

I'll get rid of the political signature when Ian555 gets rid of his. That's the entire reason I have it. Until then, it stays.

As for the ad hominem attacks, sorry about that man, but that was a REALLY stupid thing for you to post at a time like this and it pissed me off. I'm usually better than that and I shouldn't have posted that but I was steamed. Not to put too fine a point on it, but it sounded like you were blaming the victims for not carrying guns which was an incredibly tacky thing to say not the least of which because people SHOULDN'T HAVE TO FEEL LIKE THEY NEED TO BRING GUNS TO SEE A FREAKING MOVIE.

Again, I apologize Shellhead, and really this isn't the time for fighting, but it isn't the time for finger-pointing either.

I don't know if this will later be confirmed or debunked, but I just read this on a yahoo news article:

Quote:
Law enforcement sources confirmed to ABC News that Holmes said "I am the Joker" when apprehended by authorities. His hair was painted red, the same hair color of Heath Ledger's Joker at one point in 2008's "The Dark Knight."

That has been confirmed by multiple outlets here in Denver. Bizarre.

Ryan, I was afraid that this latest tragedy would hit close to home much like the fires did. All I can do is wish you peace. Small comfort right now, I know...

The previous Batman film was tainted by tragedy due to Heath passing away before winning the Oscar. Now, this installment will be connected to the worst mass shooting in the country's history.

Bizarre.

The fact that this nut job boobie-traped his apartment in an attempt to harm even MORE people... and the fact that they can find no "digital footprint" for him... ugh. Awful.

I just found out this morning that someone close to my family was one of the victims.

My mother's college roommate's son was at the movie with some of his friends for his 27th birthday outing. His wife stayed home to get some sleep and be ready for their 1 year wedding anniversary party that was supposed to have happened on Sun.

She woke up to a police officer at her door.

My mother is making plans to go out to Colorado to visit the family and is having a hard time focusing on getting through the day. Every phone call to the victim's mother (her old roommate) just breaks her down a bit more.

I have never had a tragedy of this magnitude hit so close to home.

it SUCKS is really the only way to describe how I am feeling. There just aren't better words right now.

For those of you who are living in Colorado and are more directly affected, my heart goes out to you. I thought I could understand what you might be feeling/thinking, but now I know there is no way to understand sitting outside.

My heart and thoughts go out to you all.

You mom's college roommate is Alex Sullivan's mom?

Man, what a tragic coincidence. Ben, I'm sorry for you and for your mom as well, having her friend lose a son like that, on his birthday.

Peace to you is all I can muster. I am exhausted and emotionally drained from watching so much suffering. Humanity is such a fragile concept.

Yeah, Alex.

Although I guess I got the connection a bit confused.
Alex's mom's brother and my mother have been friends through most of their childhood up to college. My mom's roommate became Alex's Aunt when they were all introduced during some odd reunion/get-together.

I have met Alex once or twice when he was a small child. Not much that I recall clearly and not a meeting of any importance.

But again, this is hitting my mother harder than I would've like to have seen.
