Do you think Lego is allowed to produce DC Comic or Marvel Comics characters in their blind bagged series that they are having so much success with?
With the new new Batman game encompassing so many cool characters, it would be a shame to not be able to have your own mini versions of certain characters.

With the new new Batman game encompassing so many cool characters, it would be a shame to not be able to have your own mini versions of certain characters. I do not believe they can do it. Just like Star Wars, to sell them as singles would consider them action figures (which Mattel and Hasbro won't let them do). Even the ones sold as magnets at the Lego store have the pieces glued together now(legs attached to the magnet). It is indeed a shame. I would love a Black Adam minifigure amongst others.

I always believed that Hasbro was being way too defensive on this issue. As a collector, consumer, and fan of both Hasbro and Lego product, I certainly never confused the two with each other. There is a far cry and a huge difference in a Luke Skywalker Lego mini figure and a Hasbro Luke figure. Lego figures are as much action figures as Barbie dolls are. They simply do not want collectors like us to potentially 'switch' over to Lego mini figures.
Sure, you can also make the argument that it infringes upon their license, but that would depend entirely if you consider Lego mini figures to be action figures. I was under the impression that Lego mini figures were made up of individual pieces, dare I say bricks, that comprise a Lego mini figure. Plus, you don't see Lego attacking Hasbro for them making vehicles.
For the record, I wish that Lego would consider making annual DC and Marvel sets in the $10-$12 price point, like they do with Star Wars. Easy fix to get around the whole action figure issue.

The problem is entirely Legal-ese...
If you allow one instance of someone to violate your license, then you have given free reign to anyone and everyone to do whatever they want.
And if you have paid good money to hold that license, you don't want to just offer it up to everyone else for free.
On the consumer side of things, its stupid. But on the legal/business end of things, its GOT to be done.
And, yes, I would love to see more DC Lego sets released whether as a cheap "army filler" style or just new builds. Gimme gimme gimme.

As stated they have to have that protection-- Kubricks are in the same situation- thats why they are usually very rarely ever seen at retail-- I think Mattel, Hasbro, and even Lego (maybe Diamond and Minimates) have their hand in preventing those from seeing the store shelves other than as a Japanese import..
Licensening can be a very complex situation-- especially when they start sublicensing - like Hasbro to Sideshow- or Sideshow with Medicom/Hot Toys..

More than half of the Satellite era JLA is appearing in the new game...and I am hoping that Hawkman, Manhunter, Zatanna, Flash, Aquamna and Green Lantern can actually get produced somehow...how about a set with teleporters and a computer station???

A Hall of Justice or Satellite base with 6-7 figures would be AWESOME!
Give me an Oan Central Battery with Hal, Sinestro, and Guardian, or a Daily Planet top with Clark/Supes, Lois, Perry, Jimmy, and Brainiac, or maybe refit an Atlantis build with Aquaman, Mera, Tempest, Ocean Master, and Black Manta.
Just, as I've said before, gimme gimme gimme!

Just give me an Aquaman and I'll be happy. Expand beyond that, and I'll be estatic.

Did you customize the chest piece yourself? Decal I assume?
either way, that's a great figure there and hopefully someone at Lego takes notice ...

... Yeah-- you can see the cut lines right below the belt- and the corner sticks out on the upper left of the torso.

Im guessing everyone here has already seen the 2013 DC Lego minifigs that are on the way? Certainly looks like another Arkham playset is on its way...
