It was so long between waves for Marvel Universe that I got out of the habit of stopping by the stores. Add to the fact that most stores are dramatically cutting back on their action figure selection, the local Target, which used to have two full aisles of figures, now hardly has one and it's rarely stocked. Walmart, which had an entire aisle now has half of one side of the aisle, likewise never stocked. I stopped in at TRU a week or so ago, after not having been there in months, and while they did have some figures out of the new waves, I couldn't find anything I wanted, either it was horrible paint, mangled cards, etc. I left toy-free. Honestly, I'm starting to agree with Jason Lenzi, with the bad distribution, the endless chase figures and the lack of retail toy availability, this just isn't fun anymore.

I'm getting most Marvel Selects, and the new Marvel Legends that I like. Apart from that I'm just bouncing all over the place, getting anything I come across that I like.

I will agree that it's not as much fun as it used to be, that's for sure. Here's hoping 2012 was an aberration (but I kinda think it'll turn out to be the new normal).

I don't know how long this will go, but to be honest, I'm just not buying new toys, I've just been filling in holes for things I've missed. Just got a Star Wars IG-88 from 2004 and an Iron Man from 1995, but I don't think I've bought a single figure for the entire year of 2012. Go figure.

The way I like to put my collection is that I collect characters.
I generally want one figure of any one character, so I tend to seek out what I consider the "best" figure for each one. I also like to keep them all in somewhat the same scale so I can create all kinds of wacky crossovers in my display cases.
