Very excited to add to my Middle-Earth Lego collection. I don't know if I'm getting everything, but I'll be getting a lot. Of course, Lego spread out all the characters in a deft marketing move. I will be able to safely ignore the Riddles in the Dark (or whatever it's called) set, as I already have a Gollum from LOTR and Bilbo's in several sets. What I have to decide is if I want to get the Bag End set. The Shire theme doesn't really fit in with any of the other sets. But I'm definately getting the Tree Attack, Goblin Kingdom, and Mirkwood sets. Here's hoping this'll usher in new LOTR sets later next year. I'd really like them to be ongoing like the Star Wars sets. There's plenty left to immortalize as Legos.

Absolutely getting them. I've been wanting Bag's End since AFI showed the pics. That will be my first purchase.

Got Bag End and the Tree/Warg set at TRU last night. The Warg's are cool! Best of all, TRU's current buy one Lego Set get the next 50% off applies to the Hobbit sets! Of course, with TRU's marked up prices, you about break even against Amazon. I ordered the Mirkwood set from Amazon as well. I will hold off on the Goblin Kingdom set for awhile. A hundred bucks is a bit much during the holiday season. I didn't see the Barrel set yet. I wonder if it's a store exclusive?

Amazon had the Goblin Town set for $85 so I jumped on it. Now I just need the Barrel Escape and I'm done (skipping the Gollum set, as I already have both the mini-figs). Time to make more sets, Lego!

Bag End will be one of my holiday presents. In the meantime, I've purchased Mirkwood and the Barrel Escape sets. I may get the Goblin King eventually but aside from finances, I still have quite the pile of unopened/unbuilt sets - Weathertop and Mines of Moria along with the Avengers Hellicarrier breakout and Star Wars Old Republic fighter.

Which store is carrying the Barrel Escape?
Besides The Lego Store, of course.

Shellhead, Barrel Escape is a TRU exclusive. Marked up $5 at 44.99, naturally.

Hmmm. TRU has a 15% off coupon this week, plus my 4% from my TRU credit card . . . $45 x 0.15 = $6.75 So $45 - $6.75 = $38.25 $38.25 x 0.04 = $1.53 So it'll cost me $36.72. OMG! TRU is actually cheaper than somewhere else!!!

After seeing the film, I think I may wind up buying all the remaining sets I don't own yet, just not all at once. Mirkwood was not that enjoyable of a build for me and my purchase of that set was mainly minifig driven. It's funny how we won't see the scenes that set along with Barrel Escape are based upon until next year.

Yeah, they kinda dropped the ball with some of the sets.
They could have easily done a Troll Attack set with some horses and the three Trolls. I wouldn't have minded a Rivendell set, either.

It looks like there will be a Fellowship of the Ring Rivendell set next year, but it will just have a table, Arwyn, Frodo, Gimli and Elrond...no big architecture set, no Galadriel or other "new" characters.
