Well alright then. I love some of the comments. Matty is just trying to unload the Robotos they "screwed up". I don't see the big deal.

It's hard to see a big deal when there's none there in the first place. Frankly, I'm just surprised that they ended up at a Walmart instead of at an Ollie's or Big Lots.

I know the thing to do now on toy boards is to act as cool as a cucumber, but you have to admit this is significant. Yes, excess stock gets sold off to clearance frequently. But that's to the Marshalls, Ross and 5 belows of retail, not to the largest retail chain in the country. Also, this is the first time anyone has seen MOTUC at retail (disregarding the DCUC vs. MOTUC 2 packs). So if I'm someone with a modicum of control at Mattel, I send out notice on either the Matty board, twitter, facebook, or subscriber email saying "Hey, we should have learned to never say never toy fans! A small amount of excess MOTUC has found it's way to retail, so keep your eyes open if you're looking to fill a few holes in your collection!" Instead, it's found out via stealth photos and receipts and people freak out.

Has anyone else seen these around. I've got to start checking my Walmarts since the sighting was in CA. Roboto is the one I've been waiting for a rerelease on and it's going for a lot on Ebay and other sites.

Agreed, on both counts. I don't think we'll see any new figures at retail until the movie hits theaters, and the screenwriters are still working on a script, so it could be a while.

My thought is if they sell well enough and at placed in enough stores, Walmart will request more. If Walmart wants the line then that would justify larger production numbers from Mattel and we could see the line at retail. It's all about money. If Walmart wants you to make more, you make more.

I'd be inclined to agree with you. However, the fact that the only two figures they're stocking are Roboto and Gygor leads me to believe that these won't be setting any sales records at Walmart. If anything, I'd say this is going to, ahem, "kill the lien" at retail.

Absolutely, if no major characters hit the shelves in addition to these two it could actually hurt any retail offering in the future.
