I’ve been a Teen Titans fan as much as I’ve been a Justice League fan. More so during the mid-eighties, when the team’s popularity reached X-Men levels while the League’s… well, they went from World’s Greatest to Detroit’s kookiest.

Whatever. The point is that when you look at the Animated Titans’ demographics; you’ll see that from the moment it premiered in 2003, it was clear that the show appealed to GIRLS, as much as it did to boys. The powers-that-be at the time recognized this, and made sure their merchandising reflected it.

The new show (IMHO) follows in the same vein as the Power Puff Girls in terms of humor, animation, and appeal. And the merchandising should probably follow suit. So I’m thinking that Mattel’s boy toys division might not be a good fit for it. But that doesn’t mean there can’t be Teen Titans action figures geared towards young boys and adult collectors, like us. It just means that Mattel has to use some common sense and stop sticking “Animated Heads” on top of “DC Universe Classics Bodies.”

‘Cause that’s neither here, nor there. And let’s face it... it didn’t work with the Public Enemies Figures. It didn’t work with the Young Justice Figures. And I’m pretty sure it’s not going to work with Teen Titans.

So instead of giving me this:

Image

Why not take the opportunity to fix Starfire’s uniboob, or Kid Flash’s height, or Beast Boy’s suit?
‘Cause in essence, that’s what your current market really wants.

Not this mess:

But in the end, something closer to this:

Personally Id be all for it if it fit in with the previous bandai line.-- otherwise we dont need another scale and format.

I have to agree with J1H here. WB/Cartoon Network has gotten rid of every animated project that I'm even remotely interested in. I'm sick of a new Batman cartoon every 3 years or so and cartoons without any story or substance.

As it stands now, I'm regretting buying that crapy Teen Titans on the school bus SDCC exclusive so I doubt I'll pick up any figures from the series.

Though I still wouldn't collect it, this cartoon seems perfect for Action League-style non-articulated figures.

If they look like this:

Then I will pass. I will only collect JLU/YJ, Brave & Bold, and Ben 10 figures. I will buy the Mattel 60's Batman because I have waited a LONG time to get them.

It all depends on the design/format/price, but I will probably buy merch related to this show. I didn't collect the bandai stuff, but I hadn't seen the show then. I like a lot of different formats though, and it seems most people focus on just one scale or just certain formats.

I agree that the action league style would be nice for this. And it would be cool if they would think a bit outside the box and make DCUC style stuff for these five characters using the show's branding power. (I'm sure that's more difficult to pull off than we all think).

I'll buy figures of the main cast at the very least. Most likely I'll be all-in for any unique character or show-accurate variation.

Not a chance. They dumped the 2 shows that I enjoyed,YJ and GLTAS(and I bought the pretty lame YJ figures). I wont be watching this incarnation of the Titans. Didnt like it when the original was on and this new one actually appears worse. Its for the kids, I get it. But if they are expecting an adult collector, like myself, to buy in they are mistaken.

If theres going to be a poll for Beware the Batman Ive got my answer for that one too. Not. A. Chance.

Cartoon Network, and its new, weak DC Nation, can suck eggs.

Well, it seems most people are definitely not going to buy any product (in any format/scale/style) that does not (and may not ever) exist, and that may or may not be based exactly on what the animation for this show will look like.

I think a line based on this, which is based off of Super Hero Squad, could really work.

I think I would have to pass. Obviously, if I saw them and they were really surprisingly wonderful, that might change. But toys in this animated style probably wouldn't grab me. I didn't think much of the Bandai toys from the original Titans show -- although my daughter and I loved the cartoon and I STILL get the theme song stuck in my head from time to time. I'm just not a fan of the big-headed chibi "Li'l Gotham" style for the characters. (Or any characters, really.) Nice that they got the original voice cast back together, though.
