I've seen the stuff for the subs, but was anything said or asked about the retail lines for DC? Are the unlimited lines dead? Will there be a relaunch of the waves? Anything at all????

The DC panel isn't until 3pm Pacific time, we have a few hours roughly 6pm EST) yet until that information is out.

But, yeah...
I'm really excited to find out what is in store, especially with the NEW surprise line that was hinted at in the press release.

"Mattel DC" and "Retail" don't really belong in the same sentence...

I know, I know... Image

UPDATE! -- They are not doing a 6" line or a 3.5" line... it will be a 4" line now! Thank God for another scale, and they're nu52, video game, movie-based, etc., and more mixes - "DC Comics Multiverse" is name of line. Whooo Hoooo?

The DCUC style seems to be dead other than the sub. So if you want more figures in that style, subscribe!

I would think that you would WANT a strong presence at retail.

This is one of the most uninspired presentations at SDCC by Mattel/DC and I'm not one of the mythical Mattel-haters.

It's all stuff that's been done before. With the Total Justice line, we're seeing figures that have just been done in the Unlimited and Brave and the Bold style team packs and singles. The 4 inch Multiverse line features Arkham city that they briefly dabbled with in the Batman Legacy line and they will feature Batman movie characters we had 24 years ago. There's the ugly Evergreen stuff. And the Total Justice figures look the same to me. Just...a little bigger? How did Young Justice do again? Not very well from what I remember.

Man, just nothing to be excited about at retail. Only the Classic Batman line keeps me engaged and interested and that's based off a 50 year-old tv show.

They've given up trying to appeal to collectors at retail. We get the subs, I guess.

Total heroes: Big guns for the little boys (and occasional girl). Kinda like the Target line that appeared this year, but more articulated.

Multiverse: Obviously trying to capture some of the popularity of the Arkham games. Most kids play video games and Mattel's probably trying to get some of that Skylander money. Of course, with no actual video game mechanic connected to the figures, I wonder if it will work.

Mattel's going back to basics, trying to hit the 6-12 year olds. Time will tell . . .
