Black Market/Bootleg Figures

Evil Ryu

The easiest way to detect a bootleg is basically looking at the package. The original figure packaging text says "Evil Ryu". The bootleg text says just ?Ryu? with the Evil Ryu inside the package.

The SDCC-exclusive ?grinning? Evil Ryu figure in Japanese packaging (without the exclusive sticker) is also a fake, along with the ?grinning? Evil Ryu packaged into yellow ?White Ryu? package.

On the bootleg figure the skin tone is much lighter. The chi fist color is darker and purple tint compared to the original figure?s blue tint. The gloves are a different shade of red.

M. Bison, White Ryu or Sagat

These figures were made using the same molds and packaging (without authorization from SOTA); however these are not exactly like the originals, with paint applications and accessory quality being noticeably lower. Most of these originate from Hong Kong or China.

These bootleg figures have a cheaply scanned paper insert, with the barcode for Ryu by default. They've applied a sticker with the appropriate character's SKU in the case of Bison and Sagat.

M. Bison has a totally different skin tone with little or no airbrushed detail, a cheap cape made of totally different fabric and a poor-quality psycho energy attachment.

Ryu's hair seems to be shinier than the original P1 release, but the white paint seems to be more consistent.

Black Gen

The Black Gen in the English green packaging is fake.

9" Rotocast Series
__Ryu
__Sagat
__Sagat (orange)
__Evil Ryu

Oh wow, they're doing a Dark Sakura variant? Is it one of the ones they've released packaged shots of? None of those looked 'evil' to me...

So that one's the Dark one? Shouldn't she at least have red eyes or something?

I just cleared up some stuff, like updating all of the Round 3 variants as online only.

When I get details on the Ryu and Sagat re-release I'll post 'em up there too.

I can't remember where I read it, but someone had asked if MechaZangief would be a possible variant for series 5. I belive SOTA said they did not own the license to MechaZangeif since the character was created by Marvel and not Capcom, but thought it was a great idea and would possibly take steps to try and secure that property. I'm not particularily well versed in licensing issues so I don't know how that would work out, but how cool would that be!
