Lobo

Head - Original Sculpt
Torso - Superman (modified)
Arms - Superman (modified)
Legs - Superman (modified)

Lobo is one of my favorite customs that I have ever done, but he was truely a labor of love. I'm not even a huge fan of the character but I felt my JLU collection needed him in the ranks. He has a Superman body with the articulation smoothed over, legs lengthened and the chest widened and the pecks angled. As with my Salakk custom, it seems like the more I change the base figure, the more I like it. Hopefully this won't become a habit or I might go insane.

Salakk

Image

Head - Original Sculpt
Torso - Copperhead
Arms - Copperhead (all four)
Legs - Copperhead

Continuing on showing my customs that I couldn't finish before Custom Con, my next custom is Salakk. This was the TOUGHEST custom that I have tried but he is definately my favorite to date. I went through 3 Copperheads' in the process of angling his outer arms out while still retaining the articulation. I had never heard of the character before JLU and when I saw him in the episode "The Return" I thought he had a cool design. The head is an original sculpt using Kneaditite and Sculpty, all the other parts are from various Copperheads

Speedy

Image

Head - Flash
Torso - Atom
Arms - Atom
Legs - Lex Luthor

My second custom ever was a show accurate Speedy from Patriot Act. This was a little tougher, but I think it was a good challenge. My only regret is that I didn't use a strip of vinyl for his strap across his chest. Other than that I am very happy with the final product. I used an Atom torso and arms, Lex Luthor legs, and a head that was donated from an articulated Flash.

Jay Garrick

Image

Head - Superman
Torso - Aztek
Arms - Lex Luthor
Legs - Aztek

Here's my third custom. Eventually I want to try to complete the JSA so I decided to tackle Jay Garrick. I picked him first because I was able to use his appearance in the Justice League Unlimited comic as a guide. I'm satisfied with the final product. I had originally added wrinkles and jowls to him, but the paint filled them in and made them disappear. For Jay I went with an Aztek body and legs, Lex Luthor gave up his arms and I threw on a head from a Superman that was laying around. I want to say thanks to Batlaw for some advise on Jay's helmet.

Captain Atom

Image

Head - Waverider with sculpted hair
Torso - Waverider
Arms - Waverider
Legs - Waverider

Captain Atom was my first custom ever. He's made using the most common recipe - a Waverider with sculpted hair. I'm glad I chose him as my first because he's a major character and he was easy. I'm very happy with the results.

Invincible

Image

Head - Starman
Torso - Atom
Arms - Atom
Legs - Atom

Even though he's not a DC character I decided to make Invincible. I have to give all the credit to Casimir for turning me onto this character. I really like his custom and he highly recommended the comic so I picked up the first volume of the collected edition and it rocked. I couldn't put it down and right there I knew I wanted to make a custom of him. I used Cas' recipe (why mess with perfection) and it was very fun to do because of how easily it came together

Queen Bee

Image

Head - Katma Tui
Torso - Katma Tui
Arms - Katma Tui
Legs - Katma Tui

This is the first of two customs I did for HOJ's Legion of Doom contest. It's pretty self explanatory; make a custom of a villain. It could be any villain that you wanted. My first choice was Queen Bee. She was originally a Katma Tui figure with sculpted hair, belt and bracelet. Her eyebrows/antennas are thin wire painted black and glued on.

Desaad

Image
Head - Original Sculpt
Torso - Original Sculpt
Arms - Original Sculpt with Star Wars Emperor Palpatine hands
Legs - Original Sculpt

This was the second custom I did for the HOJ Legion of Doom contest - Desaad. He is an original sculpt except for his hands. They came courtesy of a Star Wars Emperor Palpatine. Everything else is 100% Kneaditite. He is my first original sculpt and I am pleased with how he came out. In the future, I plan on narrowing his head slightly but I was under time constraints because the contest deadline was only hours away and he wasn't even primed.

Thanks guys. It's appreciated. I'm really pleased with the next custom that I'll be posting in a few days.

How long have you been customizing?
Your painting ability is good.

Four months. I started my first custom (Captain Atom) sometime in the beginning of December.

Jester,

That is some really beautiful work! I can't believe you've only been at it for 4 months because you're work is simply wonderful. I really love the JSA Flash. You did a top-notch job on his helmet. That is a tough thing to do - I've seen many that just didn't look nearly as good as yours.

I can't wait to see more of your work.

Thanks so very much for sharing!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I'm glad you like them. It get me psyched to crank out more.

The head was from the 9 poa Flash. I had to cut off the ear "wings", slimmed down the neck, trimmed away some of his brow, cut off the mouth because of the goofy smile and for some reason the back of his head almost comes to a point, so I cut some of that off to make it look normal. Then I filled in the eyes to get rid of the triangle eyes and filled in the edges of the mask on his face. The actuall head roilling around my work toolbox for about a year (I had time to kill and I had an extra Flash from a 3 pack so I decided to see how they were made)
