And we got Green Arrow/Oliver Queen back a short while ago too.

She's gonna be Batgirl again.....It's inevitable.....I didn't know about the "toe" thing.....I'm kinda dissapointed in DC......

I'd just like to say that I'm kinda' getting annoyed at seeing people online claim to be upset by the death of Elongated Man's wife, yet they can't even be bothered to get her name right: Sue Dibney. Not Sue Dinby or Sue Digby. Sorry, I just can't take it anymore! :D

Sorry about that, I've called EM Ralph Dinby forever. I always called her "Sue". I also have very flawed typing skills. I'll go back & fix it in the original post.

I really hope not. I love the Cassandra Cain Batgirl character, and i'd like to see her stick around in perpituity. I like Barbra Gordon and she's a great character, but i like her more in her Oracle role then i ever did in the Batgirl role.

Heard a rumor that whoever ends up being the next Blue Beetle, Keith Giffen is going to be writing the new ongoing.

Who are the likely candidates to become the NEW Blue Beetle??? I've not kept up with comics like I used to, but no one in particular comes to mind. Would they (DC) just create someone (see Firestorm---boooooo!!!) to feel his shoes or use someone already established but in need of a revamp??
Either way, as long as they look cool, I hope for a new Beetle figure as the old one is way small.

Ted Kord as Blue Beetle

Jim Corrigan as Spectre

Kent Nelson as Dr. Fate

Ronnie Raymond as Firestorm

enough of this dumb "we can put anyone in the costume" syndrome.

So you don't like Wally as Flash, or Kyle as GL, or Conner as GA or Tim as Robin, or any of the newer Titans?

It's not a dumb syndrome, it's part of the natural progression of the story of these characters . Whether you think it's good or bad, at least it's interesting. I'm enjoying all the Crisis stuff. I get that you hate it. We all get that.

But you can't honestly find anything good about any of these stories?

I think Tim Drake or Dick Grayson will wind up as Blue Beetle. Just a guess.

I foresee some major changes as a result of this series. I think that the original Teen Titans, with the exception of Wally, will either finally move away from their mentors completely or take over that role.

Wally, of course, has already become the Flash. It's interesting to note that every major change in the DCU has revolved around a Flash.

It was Showcase #4 and the introduction of Barry Allen that basically began the Silver Age. It was the classic "Flash of Two Worlds" story in Flash #123 that brought the Golden Age characters back. And it was Barry Allen's death in Crisis On Infinite Earths that ushered in the Post-Crisis era and the end of the Silver Age. Barry's death was meant to be symbolic, I think. Just as his introduction began an era, his death signaled the end of it.

That said, I don't think Infinite Crisis will revolve much around Wally, Jay or Bart, unless the new Captain Boomerang (Who has been revealed to be a speedster) plays a part or Barry returns. As far as I know, that particular sub-plot from Identity Crisis hasn’t been touched on, but truthfully, I haven’t been keeping up with Flash. Could the young Captain Boomerang be the ill-legitimate son of Barry?

I think it’s also interesting to note that DC has recently signed Mark Waid, Grant Morrison, Geoff Johns and George Perez to long, lucrative and exclusive contracts. Not just as creators, but as “consultants”. One of Grant’s jobs is to reinvent and re-imagine some of the old second and third string characters in the DCU. I heard that he had literally come up with hundreds of pages of notes and sketches. If Infinite Crisis means a re-boot, then Grant’s Seven Soldiers story is probably POST Infinite Crisis. He’s already changed Guardian, Shining Knight and Klarion significantly from what they were, and this story is not labeled elseworlds. Perez is doing new style guides, and reportedly Geoff Johns is working on an updated version of the history of the DCU.

So, Geoff, Mark, George and Grant have an entire universe to play with. What’s going to change? Who’s going to be in the JLA? What happens to Kyle, Donna, Garth and Roy? What happens to the Freedom Fighters? Who’s going to become Blue Beetle? Firestorm? Hawkman? Spectre? Where’s Ray Palmer? What happens to the JSA ? Power Girl? What the heck is Pyscho Pirate (The only one who remembers the original Crisis) up to?

Mike
(Ya gotta admit, love it or hate it, these stories have people talking and speculating. I think it’s a good thing.)

Wally becoming Flash was handled well. I do like Kyle & Conner, but Hal & Ollie were sent off in stupid was. Ollies return was terrible. Hal's was good. They are both back now. In the current environment Kyle & Conner look like they have targets on their foreheads.

As for the new Titans (and Outsiders), DC just can't get these teams right. Young Justice was a great book. These new versons were created because the prior versions had grown up. So what does DC do? They decide to write stories where these characters grow up. Impulse was a great concept. He fit his name. Now that's gone. They've reintroduced Raven at a younger age to further blur the age difference between the two groups.

Titans are older - Nigthwing, Troia, Tempest, Arsenal, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, Changling (not 'beast boy').
Young Justice is younger - Robin, Superboy, Impulse, Wondergirl
They don't belong on the same team.

Sorry, but I've changed since the first Crisis. There is WAY too much death for my taste. The moment the writer kills a longtime character that I've invested a decade or so getting to know, it doesn't matter what else is in the story. That kills it for me.

Yeah, I can dig where you are coming from. I have a hard time with it too, seeing Ted, Dmitri, Ice even - great beloved characters that are killed for the shock value. It makes you feel cheated.

But I am really enjoying the Crisis stuff, the mini-series books are a great read. And I look forward to the Crisis series and the 52 followup. If nothing else, it should be interesting.

Mike! You gotta go pick up the recent "Rogue War" story in Flash - among other things, it reveals who Jr's mother is...

I've been enjoying Villains United, and the bodycount so far consists of:

The Fiddler (Golden Age villain)
Hyena (Firestorm villain)
The Crime Doctor (he may or may not be dead, but would deserve it if he is)
A bunch of lions

Surprisingly light, considering the protagonists are a bunch of killers, terrorists, mercenaries, sociopaths, and other assorted supervillains. For the record, another Golden Age villain, Monocle (seen in Identity Crisis), was recently killed in the Manhunter comic.

We also don't know who Mockingbird (the leader of the Secret Six) really is, and there's still some mystery surrounding who Catman is. For anyone who doesn't know, Catman is Thomas Blake, an old Batman villain who was last seen as a fat, washed-up loser in Green Arrow's comic (Brad Meltzer's "Archer's Quest" storyline). Then, without much explanation, Gail Simone revamped Catman as a badass noble antihero, combining qualities of Tarzan, Wolverine, and Batman himself. No matter what happens in next month's final issue of Villains United, the ongoing double- and triple-crosses and the mysteries behind Mockingbird, Catman, Scandal, and Luthor and his Society, are what keeps this miniseries riveting.
