Would you return the figures back to Mattel? I don't think I would but I would make sure my kids would get rid of theirs.

Seeing that I'm almost 41, I don't think there is much of a chance that I'm going to be chewing on my toys any time in the near future so returning them in case of a recall really isn't necessary.

If there was a recall, I wouldnt send them back. It may finally force me into putting them into a display case.

Sorry, my x-ray vision don't work on lead and lead by-products. So I couldn't really know for sure...

Most lead you would find in your house is in things you touch every day. blinds for windows frequently have lead dust as the coating breaks down. the wind blowing through the window can carry this throughout your house. old bathtubs bathed in daily. paint if the walls were painted before a certain year. varnish on wooden walls as well.
Plumbers are probably named after "plumbnum", the old name for lead, lead pipes being the standard way of moving water at one point. lead pipes have been out of fashion for a long time, but if your hosue is old enough, it might have some for water leaving the house (water in the house or arriving to the house would be really rare).
In general - get a test kit at a place like Home Depot/Lowes. In an out of the way corner(the test can leave stains), test surfaces you are curious about . if there is lead, the drop will turn color. (Several years ago, there was a recall of blinds due to lead dust).

I personally wouldn't worry about my JLU figures if they used lead paint.
HOWEVER...I give nearly all of my multiples/repeats to my younger cousins and other children. That's what would worry me, my 3 year old cousin putting a Hawk or Vigilante figure in his mouth

I would keep my JLu's as I don't put them in my mouth. Now the figs I give to my nieces is another story. Those I would return, get the money back and buy myself more stuff

Well, occasionally I'll vent my frustrations on those doubles I get by chomping off a coupla Superman heads here and there... Or get carried away with my imagination... "LOOK OUT SUPERMAN! It's a giant man-eating giant!" *GULP* And I don' give extras to the kiddies, the QC on most of them is sloppy and I'd be too embarrassed too. But I think my collection's safe to handle.

I'd keep mine too, they are for display and not play, and I'm also in the "I don't put them in my mouth camp".
