I know I'm gonna get Filmore (just cuz it's Carlin!) but I think I'm gonna weaken and get the rest of them, too...

Ya know, who else but Pixar could've come up with a cast that includes Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, Larry the Cable Guy and George Carlin?... Those four names in the same breath just sounds like insanity!

Yep, I've picked up about half the die cast cars so far. I hadn't expected to - I don't have much diecast - but I love the designs!

Hey, I was in a Wal-Mart yesterday and they had one of those display pallets full of Mattel Cars stuff. One side was nothing but two-packs of the characters that aren't in the singles. There was no duplication in any of them. Characters we know about like Snot Rod, Luigi and the Tractor and a bunch of others. There wasn't a price posted and I didn't have time to find out, but I'm heading back there soon (if my store doesn't have them) to pick up the entire set!

Disney Stores have their own line of Cars. They're bigger than the Mattel die cast...about 5" long perhaps. Nicely done.

I'm waiting to see the movie first before even thinking about picking anything up (low, low priority for me). The previews have done zilch for me, but on the other hand Pixar has yet to let me down. We'll see....

This movie isn't doing too much for me either.

Of course I'm not 7 so that could explain it.

Didn't mean to imply they were. Just stating there was another line out there...

Anyone pick up any of the three interconnecting playsets yet? I'll be getting them eventually, but was wondering if they were as good as they looked...

Just wanted to add that there seems to be another line of these in the cereal box isle. I've seen numerous commercials advertising Cars toys as cereal promotions. And they appear to be packed with the cereal, not mail away. (I remember buying the cereal to get the Pokemon spinning tops a few years back.)

Hey Mr. Crawford I did pick up the playsets and I think they are pretty darn cool, they make a great display when you add the diecast cars with them, I am really loving this line!

I got to look at the whole set-up at work this morning and there's a ton of stuff already, I wonder if there's going to be more...

I've only seen the first preview (the one with Lightning and Mater driving and Lightning gets a "face" full of bugs), but the more I read about this movie and it's cast the more excited I get. I'm not a car person at all but the designs on these characters and their world have me really, really intrigued... So far I've seen the 12 individual cars, the 4 two packs, Mack the truck playset and two of the four town playsets (I think that's all in the die-cast line) and that totals out to around $169.52 at Wal-Mart price (if I remembered them all correctly). The playsets are what kills that figure with the four of them combining to total $83.52 alone! I think I'm going to put a full collection in layaway this weekend just 'cause I have a feeling that these are going to be a royal pain to find once the movie opens.

BTW, Wal-Mart also had Superman Returns Matchbox stuff right next to these... a giant Metropolis playset and a 5 pack of Metropolis city vehicles...

Some other notes on these...

There are two larger die cast - 1:24 - of McQueen and Mater.

There's also the baby blue Mater that comes with the Bowling game, which is in scale (1:43rd I believe?) with the rest of the diecast.

Originally it looked like Lizzie was going to be the tough one to find, but it appears (at least around here) that Sarge is the toughie. I till need to pick up Chick, one two pack, and McQueen himself.

I've been considering doing a review of at least a couple of them before the movie hits next week...
