logoI hope all of you Dads out there had a great Father’s Day and Father’s Day weekend.   I know I did!  We do a bit of reminiscing on our dads in this episode and their influence on our geekdom in this episode.  My dad and his music, Jason’s dad and movies and both dad’s relationship to technology now.

We both saw Man of Steel over the weekend so we’ll be bringing you our thoughts on that in next week’s episode.

  • - ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel Moving Forward with Writer. (also check out the ‘Dangerous Days’
  • - The Science Fiction Film Awards from 1978 has finally been posted up on YouTube.  And it’s AMAZING.

logoWell I hope you have all recovered from your Tony Award watching parties.  I know Jason spent the whole day Sunday cooking themed dishes for his event.  You all remember how he couldn’t stop crying while watching Les Mis.  I’m sure this was more of the same.   How about you?  Did your favorite Broadway musical win last night?   Personally I was rooting for “Pippin” to win.

As you might imagine the announcement of Mat Smith leaving Doctor Who at the end of the year would be a topic of conversation with us.   We discuss what we think it means, who should be the next Doctor, who we don’t think should be the next Doctor and when we think we will hear an announcement.

In this episode we cover:

All that and more!

Wow.  Episode 75.   Superman turns 75 years old this year and we just hit 75 episodes.  Same thing, right?

We’ve both absorbed the entire new season of Arrested Development on Netflix and we are ready to talk about it.   My viewing started about 12:20am on Sunday morning.  Jason started on Sunday afternoon of the holiday weekend but has already watched it once all the way thought and started on a second viewing.  That’s what the experts now call “binge viewing” whereby you watch hours of back to back episodes or even seasons of a TV show.   And for a show as intricate, well written and brilliantly woven together its the perfect program to sit down and enjoy 15 new episodes of Arrested Development.  The first new episodes in seven years!

In this episode we discuss:

  • Orphan Black started slow but picked up and was worth watching.
  • -  Jason saw ‘The Blacklist the James Spader pilot that will be on this Fall.
  • Amazon.com greenlights five new original series.
  • -  New “Avengers Assemble” on Disney XD this past weekend.
  • -  Disney Taps ‘Kon-Tiki’ Filmmakers to Direct ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5′
  • -  Glenn Close cast in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ as the head of the Nova Corps.
  • -  Shane Black looking at “Doc Savage” as his next film.
  • -  Henry Cavel in talks to be the lead in a  Man from U.N.C.L.E. feature film.
  • -  Evan Peters -Kid from American Horror story cast as Quicksilver in X-men DOFP –AND Joss Wheedon says he’s using Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2.  How’s THAT gonna work?
  • -  The new Kingdom Come fan trailer.
  • -  Hasbro SDCC exclusive Star Wars Angry Birds set.
  • -  Hot Wheels has put out a ‘Rockford Files’ car.

All that and more in episode 75!

logoHappy Memorial Day everyone.   I hope you are having a nice long weekend while keeping in mind the sacrifice of those that served our country and gave us our freedoms.

We’re back with another Monday and an all new episode.  We get a little philosophical about “back in our day” in this episode and do quite get to our full list of topics that we had planned, but it’s all still in the name of geek culture and how our generation consumes media as opposed to the current generation.
In this episode we discuss:

logo Hi everyone.  Sorry we’re a bit late this week with the new episode, but that life thing keeps happening all around us despite our best efforts to live exactly how we wish to.   But we still got in a full 90 minute episode for the week and have enough topics that we didn’t get to for next weeks episode!

We get a little unexpected p0litical in this episode, but it’s as a result of a pop culture event.    As always your mileage may vary.

We both saw Star Trek Into Darkness so we can finally talk about it.  We save that discussion for the very end of the episode so if you would prefer not to have to movie spoiled for you then just shut us off before we start talking about that.  We give you fair warning in the episode.

In this episode we cover:

  • - Lucasfilm announces new “Star Wars Rebels” animated series.
  • - Blur is recording a new album.
  • - Arnold S in a Toxic Avengers remake?
  • - Johnathan Rhys Meyers  is rumored to be in talks for ‘Star Wars’ episode VII.
  • - ’24′ coming back to Fox this summer.
  • - Show cancellations announced this past week.
  • - New trailer for ‘Agents of SHIELD’ on ABC.
  • - The Doctor Who season finale melted our brains!
  • - Jason watching series 2 of BBC Americas ‘The Hour’.
  • - Man of Steel figures.  Where are they?  Why does Target hate Superman so much?
  • - Xbox One Announced to the world.
  • - Steven Spielberg Halo TV series on Xbox Live
  • - New full Batman Arkham Origins trailer is sweet.
  • - Our spoiler filled discussion of ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

All that and more on episode 073 of the Geek Shall Inherit podcast!
