logoHi everyone and welcome back!   As you might imagine there’s going to be some Iron Man 3 talk this week.   We both saw it, both dug it and try to talk about our enjoyment of it as spoiler-free as possible.   Jason also has a leg up on the rest of us as he got to see an early screening of Star Trek Into Darkness.

Like many in the community this past week we were saddened by the news of the passing of the legendary Ray Harryhausen.  Also like rest of the world we were captivated by the man’s work our entire lives.   Jason and I both had the opportunity to meet the man on separate occasions and we share some of our remembrances.

In this episode we cover:

All that and more in this week’s brand new episode!

logoDid everyone have a good Free Comic Book Day?   And now you are celebrating Free Podcast Day!  Which for us is every Monday.   Welcome back for for another week of headlines and geek talk.  It was another busy week in the world of pop culture and we do our steady best to sum it all up for you.

Just for the record I did NOT jump the line at my local Free Comic Book Day.  I waited just over and hour outside with my buddy Bill who went with me, so not small hearts were broken as Mr. Big-shot strolled past them.

Iron Man 3 opened over the weekend and word is it has the second highest weekend opening of all time, right behind The Avengers… The geek truly shall inherit.
In this episode we cover:

All that and much more here in Episode 71!

logoIt only took 70 episodes, but I think we found our catch phrase! Now it’s time to fire up the merchandise machine! Mugs! T-shirts! Mouse Pads!  Beanies!  Shot Glasses! Custom License Plate Frames!  Oh man, the sky is the limit!

Once again we set out to cover the “week in geek” in about an hour and ended up with a little over an hour and a half at no extra charge!    There is a lot to discuss from the world of film and the upcoming releases of Iron Man 3 and Man of Steel, then couple all that with a weekend packed with Free Comic Book day and that makes it easy to profess that this episode truly IS full of “Geeky Goodness!” (But don’t worry… it’s not hurting anyone.)

In this episode we discuss:

logo This episode is almost too much show!  There was so much happening in the world of pop culture the last few days, we have to pick and choose what to cover in this episode.  We could spend an entire episode just talking about the new trailers from this week!   So much good stuff to cover and an anniversary on AFi make for an hour and twenty-two minutes of fresh geek talk.  And a new staff position opens up on the show.  Are you up for it? :)

In this episode we discuss:

All that and more!

logo Jason landed safe and sound back in the states and we still managed to squeeze in a new episode for this week.   That’s our stone cold dedication to you listeners!  You’re welcome!

It was a tough week for loosing folks that impacted geek culture and pop culture.  The impact of losing Roger Ebert, Jonathan Winters, Annette Funicello and Carmine Infantino will be felt for many years to come.    Our thoughts and prayers go out to their friends and families.

Also we are posting this late in the day on Monday the 15th and the events from earlier today in Boston still weigh heavy on all of of our hearts.  We are sending good vibes to the people involved in that tragedy.

We were trying some new tech in this episode, and it worked great at first… and then one of the channels went South.  So bear with us this episode.

In this episode we discuss:

  • Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere on BBC radio
  • New “Man of Steel” images and info  from Entertainment Weekly.
  • Daniel was whizin’ with Tom Skerritt.
  • Jason saw ‘‘Cloud Atlas.‘   Now he’d like for the rest of us to see it so we can all discuss it.
  • Speeder Bikes on Tattoine in Return of the Jedi?
  • Death of Thatcher and ‘Ding Dong the Witch is Dead’ climbing the charts in the UK!
  • New ‘Neon Neon’ album Praxis Makes Perfect hits end of month.   You can check out some of their other stuff here, here and here.
  • Jason educates us on the finer points of Rastamouse.
