Daniel Pickett
Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since. In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field. Daniel was regularly featured on “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network as the primary contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our front page has been linked to from USA Today’s “Pop Candy” Blog twice. Daniel’s content has also been featured on,,, Boing-Boing,, Ain’t It Cool News, the Official Star Wars blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet and Toy Fare magazine, among many others. He has consulted on toy lines, books, documentaries and TV shows. But all of that really just sounds snooty and “tootin’ his own horn” – the long and short of it is that Daniel loves toys and he LOVES talking about them.

$500? LOL! I can buy an original for that amount! I was hoping this piece would be something the MAJORITY could afford. Pass on this for me.

  • Ozzie says:

400.00? I thought 80-100.00 .That is an unfair price point. I was so looking forward to it. Not buying it.

  • danny says:

as someone who bugged their mom for this only to be too scared to keep it in the room at night as a kid, i would love to own this. but its just too expensive…the most i would’ve paid for this is like $200, $250.. i was under the assumption that this was being produced for the fans who wouldn’t have normally been able to afford the original.

  • Brent says:

Wow! Totally agree with the other posters. Why would anyone bother? Might as well go after the original if you’re going to shell out that kind of money.

  • JM says:

Act now and save 100 off the crazy overpriced amount of 499 Yes you can have this giant made in China hunk of plastic that only cost 10 US to make for only 399. Act now.

GG can eat this thing. I know they have to pay for lic and stuff but come on 399. LOL

  • Poe says:

As much as I am THRILLED this is finally being released, let’s be realistic about it. An original in the box can be purchased for the price solicited. I just can’t justify 500.00 ( Or even the pre sale 400.00 tag ) for e a repro.!

  • erik yurkovich says:

Ouch, I was expecting $100-150.00. I wanted it, but I don’t see any reason for that price point. I would rather have the vintage one for that, That’s a shame. Sorry GG. Pass.

  • Dave says:

Screw them for ripping off super 7

  • Anthony says:

Not only is this repro ALIEN way overpriced, they messed up the dome on the Alien’s head. The original Kenner toy had a more movie authentic dark smoke tinted dome. The Gentle Giant version Alien has the incorrect clear dome yet the SDCC exclusive glow in the dark green version had a dark tinted dome wtf. I’ve noticed Gentle Giant is getting a lot of flak for this as a result the price has been dropping drastically. I wanted the GG ALIEN reproduction but now that I’ve seen the final product and the overpricing I’ll pass. I have an original Kenner ALIEN figure in the box with the poster & that’s good enough for me.

  • happy says:

I just got this, “but glow in the dark from entertainment earth”, its a great figure. I have the original still in its box! This is a great figure you have to see it and hold it to understand what your paying for! IT’S GREAT no problem here a toy collector at heart!
