The cat is officially out of the bag as of ToyFare #115. Marvel Toys (formally Toy Biz) is launcing a new line in 2007: Legendary Comic Book Heroes featuring characters from all over comics publishing. 

Wave One: (Fall 2007) Savage Dragon, Super-Patriot, Ripclaw, Madman and Judge Dredd plus a 10" Build-a-Figure of Pitt!

January 17, 2007 (SEATTLE) –WizKids Inc. announced today that it will make HeroClix® and MechWarrior® Collector’s Sets, along with two convention figures previously available only direct from WizKids®, available to retail stores in the US through Diamond Comics Distributors and Alliance Game Distributors and a select group of distributors in Europe. These themed and highly collectable sets and convention figures were available first to customers of WizKids "Buy it by the brick" program though the WizKids website. "This will allow players and collectors who have not had access to these exciting sets and figures to add them to their collections," said Joe Hauck, EVP of Sales, Marketing and Product Development. "Retailers have been asking for these products, but they were intended to be very limited. We are only now able to offer them through this channel." Beginning at the end of January, the following products will be available on these street dates:

January 16, 2007 (SEATTLE) - WizKids Inc. announced today that it would begin celebrating the fifth anniversary of HeroClix® with a massive summer schedule of events.  These events will generate a tremendous amount of excitement with players and retailers by combining an all-new tournament format with some of the best prizes ever offered for HeroClix in-store play.
 
The series is scheduled to begin in July 2007 to coincide with the release of the Marvel™ HeroClix: Avengers set, when participating retailers can run a worldwide tournament event called “The Coming of Galactus™.”  This event is specifically designed to push in-store play for HeroClix events for both veterans and younger players.

Two Jack Bauer Boxed Sets to be Released mid-2007

 TEMPE, Ariz. – 20th Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising and McFarlane Toys announce a licensing agreement to produce action figures based on Fox’s multiple Emmy®-and-Golden Globe award-winning program – 24.  In an affirming nod to how much the actors and series resonates with its peers, 24 has received multiple Screen Actor Awards® nominations and has won two awards for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series – Kiefer Sutherland.

 Two figures of the show’s hero, Jack Bauer (played by Emmy® Award and Golden Globe winner, Kiefer Sutherland) are currently in production. Both are packaged as boxed sets and taken directly from scenes from the action-packed drama on Fox.

FULL FEATURE IS NOW ONLINE! 

After 40 years, Mattel has managed to get the license to do Hot Wheels replicas of the 1966 George Barris designed Batmobile.   This is the 1/64th scale Hot Wheels version that should be hitting stores next month.  Mattel is also planning 1/43rd and 1/18 scale 66′ Batmobiles.    You saw it here at AFI first folks!!

January 11, 2007 (SEATTLE) – WizKids, Inc. announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Diamond Comic Distributors and Alliance Game Distributors for the core hobby portion of its distribution in the United States and Canada.

"Our strategic focus is to create a closer relationship with our retailers, protect the equity of our brands and reinvest in our products. Through careful thought and analysis we have come to the conclusion that these goals are best achieved by using Diamond and Alliance as our distribution partner for the Core Hobby portion of our business," said WizKids CEO, Lax Chandra. The agreement will better position WizKids to gain valuable customer feedback which will be used to improve product development, increase manufacturing efficiencies and create focused promotional and marketing efforts to increase sales in Core Hobby stores. "We firmly believe that working with Diamond and Alliance will work best to achieve our strategic goals and provide the best service for our retailers, our consumers and our business. We are excited by the opportunities that we hope to create in this new relationship." "Diamond and Alliance are extremely excited to serve WizKids and the Hobby Game community in this capacity," said Steve Geppi, President and CEO of Diamond Comics. "We have devoted significant resources to support this effort and are confident in our ability to assist WizKids in reaching its goals as well as meet and exceed the needs of hobby retailers."

The agreement is effective immediately and will affect all future WizKids releases with the exception of HorrorClix: The Lab, Pirates of the Frozen North and DC HeroClix Origin. Former distributors who have placed pre-orders for these products have the option of receiving or canceling orders for these products under terms we have previously communicated to them.
