So here it is, nearly five months since my last entry. That’s terrible.

Life has been unbelievably busy, with lots of changes and transitions going on in my personal life, and unfortunately my participation with AFi suffers. But I have more than a dozen different blogs half-written already, so my goal over the next few months is to finish and post them for your enjoyment/mockery.

You might even see…the rest of the Bigfoot story. No foolin’.

CARLSBAD, Calif. (May 23, 2013) –   LEGOLAND^® California Resort is proud to announce the world’s largest LEGO^® model is “landing” at the family theme park in Carlsbad on June 13, 2013. The LEGO^® Star Wars™ X-wing starfighter was unveiled for the first time today in New York’s Times Square by the LEGO Group.  Master Model Builders at LEGOLAND^® California wanted to honor the official LEGO Group launch by building a Miniland U.S.A. version of the LEGO X-wing and replicating its arrival in Miniland New York.

The actual X-wing coming to LEGOLAND California is a 1:1 replica made of five million LEGO bricks that took a team of 32 Master Model Builders more than 17,000 hours to construct. The model weighs more than 45,000 pounds, stands 11 feet tall and 43 feet long, with a wingspan of 44 feet.  After its New York appearance, the X-wing is making the trip across the country to LEGOLAND California Resort where it will be on display for guests to enjoy through the remainder of the year.

This morning in NYC’s Times Square,  The LEGO Group unveiled the world’s largest LEGO model ever assembled. Created to celebrate the upcoming premiere of The Yoda Chronicles on Cartoon Network on Wednesday, May 29, the massive Star Wars-themed replica weighs nearly 46,000 pounds and took 32 master builders, five million LEGO bricks and over 17,000 hours to complete.

After the unveiling, the model will remain in Times Square as an interactive exhibit through Saturday, May 25th.  After leaving Times Square, the model will “take off” for a summer landing at the LEGOLAND® California Resort outside San Diego for guests to visit through the remainder of the year.

What I found today was a Target store that didn’t want to wait around for Walmart to get all of the early Man Of Steel sales and took one side of their Iron Man 3 end cap to finally put out some of the more kid friendly MoS items.   The one that caught my eye was the Mattel 4″ Target exclusive 5-pack.  Much like Mattel’s 4″ Dark Knight Rises 5-pack, this Man of Steel exclusive set features some new figures not in the single carded waves (at this time?)  As of this writing all we have seen of the 4″ singles are Zod in his Kryptionia armor and a wide variety of Superman figure in screen accurate and made up costumes.

In this set we get a standard Superman figure (same as one of the single carded figures but the car door accessory in this set is blue instead of green),  Superman in some Kryptonian armor (in fairly standard colors with a cape.  Screen accurate?  I don’t know if he ever wears this outfit.  We’ll find out next month), Superman’s dad Jor-El (A “new” figure that is a new head, but the same body, arms and legs as the Kryptionian armor Superman with a different paint job.  We suspect Jor-El is in a costume similar to this as we have seen some images in the trailer and the movie masters figure is in this armor.  The colors on this version are MUCH lighter than any of the other versions we have seen) , Zod (this is an un-armored version of the character) and everyone one’s favorite Kryptonian giant – NAMEK!!!

Who?  ya know… Namek!   …   I don’t know WHO Namek might be.  He’s a BIG figure.  Much bigger than the others.   I don’t see anyone listed under that character name for the movie on Man of Steel’s IMDB page either.   I don’t think I’ve seen anything in the trailers about a giant Kryptonian.  Now there WAS a character named Nam-Ek that showed up on Smallville and as servant to Zod.  Also a Kryptonian criminal named Nam-Ek did appear in Superman #282 back in 1974.   He did some bad stuff, turned into a purple beast and was sent into the Phantom Zone.

Who is this Namek?  Why is he a giant?  Does he really appear in Man of Steel?

Jason just sent me this screen shot from the new Man of Steel trailer.  Could that be Nam-Ek on the left hand side?

The set is available in 4 options. 3 are blind purchases: 5 figure boosters, super boosters, single figure packs. The last is a “Fast Forces” set, a clear blister which shows you the 6 figures you get and comes with a 2 sided map. Although the characters and sculpts overlap, the dials in each subset are unique. The superboosters include either a “team base” with 3 pieces special to the base or a colossal figure.(…)
