A surprise package arrived today and inside was a review sample of DC Directs highly anticipated History of the DC Universe figures. The figure I received was the Silver Age Green Arrow. Unfortunately the figure was shipped in a padded envelope instead of a box so the bubble was pretty well crushed by the time the figure traveled the way from New York to Los Angeles, bit not so bad that you can’t tell what’s in store for you with this series of figures.
PACKAGING
Above is the logo. Below are the pictures of the card and bubble. The sides of the bubble have some great art of the characters showing up in the first few waves. Waves 2 and 3 are also listed on the card back.

TURNAROUNDS

As you can see he’s got great articulation for a DC Direct figure. He has a semi-ball jointed neck, semi-ball shoulders with a bicep swivel, elbow, forearm glove swivel, wrist swivel, torso crunch joint, waist swivel, t-crotch hips, knees, boot swivel.

He comes with a standard, round, non-logoed base, his quiver and bow. The bow has an elastic bow string. You’ll notice mine has a little extra string at the bottom of the bow. That is because the bow string on mine wasn’t tied very well and came undone, but it was easy to restring and retie.
This is a well done version of the Silver Age Green Arrow, which is a character/version very much in need of a revamp from DC Directs original offering of this character in the Silver Age 2-pack with Speedy.

UPDATE- A lot of folks have written to me asking for comparison pictures so I took a few more shots today. Below are some shots comparing other DC Direct Green Arrow figures, comparing the new History of the DC Universe figures with some previous DC Direct Silver Age figures and comparing the new History of the DC Universe figures with Mattel’s DC Universe Classics line.

Wave 1 of The History of the DC Universe will be hitting stores later this month. Check out your local comic shop for the whole wave!
