Matty from MattyCollector.com and ToyGuru, have replied with the answers to our latest round of questions that AFi readers have posted in our forums.
Q1. You have re-issued some of the harder to get characters from DCSH in two packs in DCUC, but there are still some that people would like to see back out in circulation. Is there any chance of the following characters being re-issued in future two packs:
- Cassie Cain Batgirl (black costume)
- Tim Drake Robin (new sculpting where necessary, using the small male teen body base)
- Parasite
- Steel
- Brainiac robot
- Mr Freeze
A1. All of these are figures that have actually been slotted on and off for the last few years. WeÙre just trying to find the best way to get to them.
Q2. As nice as the sculpt is for the wave 13 Superboy, the use of the Sinestro buck body for him seems a strange choice as it makes him too tall for that costume/version of the character. Why was this buck used and not the Robin/Kid Flash base which should be for the younger representations of these characters?
A2. We actually worked very close with DC Comics on this figure and the buck we used did provide the correct height. Remember, many times characters are drawn by different artists and sometimes not every artist draws a character 100% the same. The DCUC line is really the “Mattel/Four Horsemen” interpretation of the characters and is not intended to be in the style of any particular comic book artist’s interpretation.
Q3. EVERY MOTUC collector is going to want Orko w/Price Adam accessory. Will there be enough of the NON-SDCC (the non color change version) for fans on MattyCollector.com. We’re you able to raise the quantities on that figure since it is post-Tela?
A3. If we sell out of the non-SDCC version we can always go into a second run like do for most sell-out figures. It is not like these figures retire after their first release after all! A second run is possible down the road but it will be of the Mattycollctor.com version, not the SDCC color change version. That version will be exclusive to the show this year and will not be re-released.
Q4. I have every figure in DCIH and am enjoying the new articulation with V2 and V3 bodies. My question is when will the females get some V2 and V3 love? Thanks as always for your time, I know you guys are real dang busy.
A4. We are working on new articulation levels all the time. YouÙll see the Wonder Woman figure in our Starro DC 75th pack at SDCC has some of the best articulation to date.
Q5. MOTUC – If each production run of a figure sells out, does Mattel have any limit on how many re-releases it will produce? For example, is there any chance that Stratos will be re-released even though the figure has already been re-released once?
A5. If a figure continues to sell out we have no problem going into a 3rd or even 4th release. We do have a 3rd release of both He-Man and Skeletor planned for down the road.
The next round of questions have already been turned in, but if you want to get in on the NEXT round we need your questions by May 13th. Remember they can be about any Mattel product including MOTUC, Ghostbusters and Cars. You can submit new questions in this thread.
You can find our past Q&A’s here. And you can discuss the answers at our Mattel board.
