SelectStartNow.com Is The Exclusive Location For The Highly Anticipated Variant

Only 250 Pieces

( New York, NY June 9, 2008) Select Start LLC announced today the sale of Dr. Destruction: The Wild edition from Muttpop.  The vinyl which begins presale on Monday, June 9, 2008 is available exclusively at www.SelectStartNow.com and is limited to 250 total pieces.

The exclusive piece is the latest addition to Muttpop’s Lucha Libre rotocast vinyl figure line. The Dr. comes with a removable cape, cigarette, cane and rotating head and stands approximately 8.25" (21cm) tall and retails for $69.99.  This particular color way is the perfect clown prince to brighten those annoying dark nights…

This concept works sinfully well on Dr. Destruction. The figure’s stocky build and dapper clothes plus the purple cape and cane combine to put this one over the top.  Speaking of the cane, the humorous smiley face accessory is a great touch matching the delicious combination of evil and humor that makes this Joker tick.

Dr. Destruction is the leader of LES FORMIDABLES, the first genuine group of French superheroes. His heroic intentions are mainly cultural: Dr. Destruction is appalled with the peasant-like ways of Americans and came to East L.A. to teach them the rudiments of Les Bonnes Manieres. He drives the pride of the French automotive industry: a 1979 Citroen CX Presidentielle: 2.5 tons of solid Parisian iron with the power of 75 horses, fueled by the purest of diesel. Some people suspect that Dr. Destruction isn’t really French. While it is true that he has no qualms sipping American brewed coffee, his reputation as a flip-flopping back-stabbing surrenderer cements his country of origin. His skull adorned cane hides a sharp blade that, he claims, killed the fifth member of LES FORMIDABLES: the one who mocked Jerry Lewis. Destruction uses this very sharp blade every morning to spread brie on his baguette.

The GI JOE team at Hasbro has answered our latest round of questions.  If you have a question you want answered in the next round then post it in this thread

Q1: Since Hasbro got back the DVD rights to GI Joe cartoon do they have any plans to release old GI Joe DVD sets at all?

A: The Hasbro entertainment team is now investigating all options.  For the short term, the DVD battle packs should tide you over.

Q2: Will vehicles be included in the upcoming Combat Heroes line? A little Combat Hero VAMP with Clutch would probably be the coolest thing EVER!

A: The short term plan is for Combat Hero figures.  If the line is a success, we will look at expanding it into other expressions such as vehicles.

Q3: Will G.I. Joe get the Mighty Mugg treatment?

A: We are investigating this for 2009, but are not ready to announce anything yet.

Q4: Will the GI Joe sky striker enjoy a re-release?

A: No, while we would like to do this, the original Sky Striker tool is not available.

Q5: We understand Plan A stood to make just 25 figures for the 25th. Now it does not to make financial sense to stop such a good thing at 25, much less, 62.  Kenner’s Star Wars collection stopped at 200+ figures.

That number didn’t halt Hasbro from gunning for its 1,000th Star Wars figure in the close future of that new collection. Â Taking cues from that, can we too see G.I.Joe’s new anniversary collection continue on and on? Via his own “Legacy Line,” with his own “Expanded Universe” waves of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s Joes?  Giving something new to all of Joe’s broad base of fans (as Star Wars did with their broad base of fans spanning the movies, comics, and cartoons) all coalesced in this new 3.75 format?  Reaching such a broad base, can maybe have Joe reach its 1000th figure. And, afford Joe’s own BMF-like Millennium Falcon, the U.S.S. Flagg – even if its just available during Christmas time. Like a Walmart or Target exclusive, as exemplified in the latter’s Christmas re-release of Star Wars “Emperor’s Shuttle,” of which sold-out so quickly just a few years back just as a Christmas-time exclusive.  Come on.  Wadduya say?

A: The short term plan is to continue the classic line until the movie line debuts in 2009.  After the movie, we will look into all options, including an expanded universe.  As for a large key driver item we are looking into all expressions for movie and will have more info in the coming year.

As excited as the Four Horsemen are with the release of their latest Seventh Kingdom inspired FANtastic Exclusive  action figure, "The Chalice of Guudenuph", they regretfully have to announce that the most recently planned release date of "the Chalice" will have to be postponed by a little more than a week.

The powerhouse of a pink pachyderm "The Chalice of Guudenuph" was most recently scheduled to go up for sale on the Horsemens¹ online store, Store Horsemen (http://www.StoreHorsemen.com) this Tuesday night. The new release date will be next Friday night/Saturday morning (June 21st) at 12:00am EST.

As announced previously, The Chalice will sell for $25.00 each (plus shipping) and will be limited to less than 300 pieces! Ramathorr and a very limited amount of the Anitherian Nine sets will also be put back up for order at the same time as The Chalice of Guudenuph for $25.00 each (plus shipping), and $225.00 each set (plus shipping) respectively.

The Four Horsemens¹ Cornboy had this to say, "First of all, we want to apologize to everyone who¹s been looking forward to the release of these figures. With all of the delays we¹ve had so far with these things, this latest postponement is somewhat embarrassing for us to say the least As collectors ourselves, we know what a pain it is to wait for something that you¹re really into."

As for the reason for the latest schedule change? Cornboy said this, "The reason for the latest shift in scheduling is pretty simple. We¹re moving into a new, larger studio, which is going to require a lot of new construction. We¹ve packed all of the FANtastic Exclusive product away into our new storage area for protection until the bulk of the construction is finished, but the construction¹s taking a bit longer than we¹d hoped."

He added, "The need for the move came about quite quickly and unexpectedly. We would have loved to have had more time to plan it out, but things didn¹t go that way. Once this big move¹s out of the way, things should run a lot more smoothly around here, including all of our outstanding shipments. We¹ll send out a reminder press release just before the figures go on sale."

So please be patient. Pachyderms will soon be parading through your living room. They¹re just not very good at telling time.

MOTÖRHEAD frontman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister recently spoke to the Artisan News Service about the Lemmy Icon Figure, which is about to begin shipping from Locoape, creators of iconic figures and collectibles via www.lemmyfigure.com. In addition to a standard edition an edition of 2,500 pieces is one exclusive that includes an individually numbered MOTÖRHEAD "Ace of Spades" playing card as well as an authentic D’Andrea Lemmy guitar pick. Also available is an autographed edition limited to only 50 pieces worldwide.

"I had to stand on this platform while the camera went around and did the hologram thing and then they made the model, only smaller," Lemmy said. "They said it’s an action figure, and I said, ‘So, you’re gonna put a *&$% on it?’ They said, ‘No.’ I said, ‘Well, then it’s not going to get much action then, is it?’ A bad name for it, right?"

Watch video footage of Lemmy talking about the action figure at this location.

Locoape, the newly formed Chicago-based manufacturer, produces an array of both licensed and proprietary branded products with an emphasis on toys, collectibles, trends and popular culture.

"We’re very excited to be able to introduce the Locoape brand to the public with an iconic license such as MOTÖRHEAD. Lemmy is an artist that defines modern hard rock and metal music," said Locoape CCO Michael Romano.

According to Locoape President Steve Loney, "When we first began to develop the Icon series brand we wanted to first solidify just who the Icons are. Much was debated, but Lemmy was instantly at the top of that list. With so many Iconic artists in development and the roster we’ve secured we’re already planning in to 2010! People are really going to be surprised just who and what we’re developing."

Romano added, "Beginning with Lemmy, we’ve strived to create the Icon series as an ongoing brand of true show piece collectibles. Collectibles that include the artist’s input and offers the fans and collector an item with the quality and integrity that they deserve."

Spencer Gifts, Hot Topic, Virgin Mega Stores, Hastings, FYE, HMV, Diamond, independent record and specialty collectible toy stores and distributors worldwide are all places you may be able to find your own Lemmy figure. Locoape has assembled the finest distributors throughout Europe such as Gear for Games, Cosmic, PBM Express, SD, HEO.com, Cards Inc., Legends & Album stores in France, Blister Direct in Japan, Figure Mania and Croftminster in Australia, Grossnor in Canada are just a few of the wholesale channels that will be carrying the Lemmy figure.
