SOTA Toys has always tried to please the hardcore fans.  It is these fans that give us the support and input that helped make our toys some of the best out there.  We are now taking this to the next level.  We are going to take a more "grass-roots" approach to some of our figures.  As you may or may not have noticed there are now temperature gauges on some of the products on our site.  What these gauges reflect is how close the figure is to being produced.  In the past we needed to solicit a certain amount of orders to justify manufacturing a product.  No matter what some people may claim one does not manufacture product unless you have a guaranteed amount sold before the product even arrives.  So what we’ve decided to do is let you, the fans, play an integral part in getting something made.  These gauges will show you how close we are to producing a figure.  We won’t do this for all of our figures, but we will do it for the ones that we know you want, but the buyers don’t seem to get.

Click for bigger picture.

The first line for this will be Dark Stalkers.  We know you want it.  We know you like it.  But the problem is, we just don’t have the orders to warrant manufacturing the figures.  That’s why Dark Stalkers has been "coming soon" for about three years.  That’s why this line has been delayed, pushed back, and stalled out for so long.  But now, using this "grass-roots" approach we really believe that you as fans can show that this is a line that you want produced.  It’s really simple.  Order the figures.  Get your friends to order the figures.  Spread the word.  Let people know.  All you people that believe in Dark Stalker it’s time to show your support!  As soon as we hit our mark we’ll begin the manufacturing process.

As it stands right now there are a few retailers and distributors out there that have orders for Dark Stalkers.  No doubt some of you have pre-orders with these companies.  All these order will be honored.  These will also count towards the total amount of pre-ordered figures.

Join us in supporting the Diane Kamahele Memorial Fund by bidding on a host of unique items that Sideshow will be auctioning off during Comic Con. Sideshow does not typically eBay its products, nor has it previously sold any pre-production samples. Examples of Auctions itemsHowever, the company is dedicated to honoring Diane’s memory by providing a health and education benefit to her children, which is, of course, an ongoing concern.

The Sideshow team has selected a wide range of items that should excite collectors from each of the major genre’s that we sell product for: Sci-fi, horror, fantasy, and super heroes. The product selected includes Artist Proofs and pre-production samples from a wide variety of licensed properties. All of the AP’s are noted as such on their base bottoms, while each of the pre-production samples have unique characteristics that are called out on the auction pages.

The auctions will take place from July 23rd to Aug 2nd 2007 and we will be announcing the specific auction items in next week’s Sideshow newsletter.

Please help us to help Diane’s kids by adding one of these truly unique items to your collection.

Van Nuys- 7-12-07 San Diego Comic Con is just two weeks away so we thought we’d make a quick announcement as to what you can expect from SOTA Toys this year. This is the first SDCC with the new owners and we are all very excited to show our exclusives, some new products and announce new licenses!

Our exclusives this year are pretty sweet. For Street Fighter, we’ll have the Turquoise Dan. This figure will retail at $20. There were only 1000 of these made and we’re sharing 500 of them with Corner Store Comics. We also made a Pink Dan, but that is a Wizard exclusive we won’t be selling, but you will be able to get through Wizard. For Dark Stalkers we have a real treat! We created a Dimitri and a Dee micro bust. These are in scale with the Dark Stalkers action figures, so in a sense they are a sneak peek at the figures. There will only be 250 of each of these made and at $25 a piece they should go extremely quick. We will also have an exclusive Pink Felicia PVC that will retail at $40 and is limited to 250 pieces as well. Lastly we’ll have the Evil Ryu resin statue which will be limited to 225 pieces and sold for $80. As always anything we have left over after the Con we will put up on our website. But we really don’t anticipate there being much left over.

SOTA's Street Fighter DAN

As for products that we’ll be showing.well we’ll have Street Fighter Revolution 1. So you’ll see painted samples of Dhalsim, E. Honda, R. Mika, and hopefully, Zangief. We’ll also be debuting sculpts and designs of Revolutions series 2. You’ll just have to wait and see what these will be. We will also debut some new Street Fighter resin pieces. Aside from having the Evil Ryu for sale, we’ll have proto’s of a Blanka and a Sagat resin statue as well as announcement of what statues we plan on doing in the future. We’ll have PU’s of Dark Stalkers so you’ll see samples of Dimitri and Lord Raptor. We’ll also be debuting the second wave of Dark Stalkers in design and sculpt form. Again you’ll have to wait and see what these will be!

Now Playing 4 will be making a showing at SDCC. You’ll be seeing the Anubis Warrior from The Mummy Returns, The Leprechaun from, well, The Leprechaun, and another Klown from Killer Klowns from Outer Space! We’ll also have samples of our American Werewolf in London Two Pack featuring Fresh Kill Meatloaf Jack and The Kessler Wolf! Bad Ass! SOTA will be announcing a new license and debut a few other cool pieces but that’s the gist of what you’ll see!
