Looks like there’s a bit of ugliness surrounding Barbie on her 50th Birthday. According to this article in the Idaho Statemen a man by the name of Anthony Bulone says he was the actual sculptor of the original Barbie doll and that it’s features are based one those of his late wife. According to Mattel’s version of the story Mattel maintains Barbie was invented by the late Ruth Handler.
Bulone has no records to prove his claim, but says that he was paid $800 for the original sculpt.
