Out tomorrow, Jan. 14th (available at Wal-Mart and Amazon) is “Marvel Knights Animation: Wolverine Vs. Sabretooth” from Shout! Factory. Read more for a quick look and my review of the upcoming DVD release…

I’ve watched several of these Marvel Knights Animation films and while I always wish they were fully animated I can’t help but love the end result every time. I’m always impressed with the work that they do and look forward to what comes next, “Wolverine Vs. Sabretooth” is not different. I’ll proceed without spoilers but you can bet there is plenty of slicing and dicing.

The animation style is done in the art of Simone Bianchi and translates very well. Once again we get some pretty fluid motion with the characters and it’s easy to forget you’re not watching a fully animated film. I enjoyed the voice-acting and the simple story by Jeph Loeb gets the action going non-stop from the beginning.

We get a retrospective with the creators that’s short but sweet. I highly recommend as a Marvel fan that you seek out these DVD releases, the more support they get hopefully the more they’ll make. I don’t mind seeing some of my favorite stories come to life in this format. In all honesty these are better done than most of the DTV Marvel animated movies of years past. Highly recommended! Make sure you look for it tomorrow! Special thanks to Tom Chen at Shout! Factory.
