Mattel Give Details on Feb 15th Sale
January 26, 2011

Today over on MattyCollector.com, Mattel posted the details of their February 15th sale.  Looks like it’s a all MOTUC month.   That will be nice break after the flood of Mattel news we’ll be getting on the evening of Feb 13th from their Toy Fair collector press event!

Toy Fans,

February is the month of love, so what better time than our February 15th sale to say “we heart you” with a beautiful bouquet of toys!

First, we’ve got four MOTUC figures, leading off with a guy who, sadly, isn’t so lucky at matters of the heart…

  • MOTUC Bow™ Figure: The Club Eternia® Monthly Figure for February is the first and only male character from the POP series. Even though he comes with an all-new “bowman’s wrist” for full shooting articulation, he hasn’t hit the mark with his one true love, Adora. Included with 2011 Club Eternia® subscriptions.
  • MOTUC Shadow Beast™: This mega-awesome figure stands over 9” tall and is the first oversized beast “army builder.” Included with 2011 Club Eternia® subscriptions.
  • MOTUC Keldor™ Figure (reissue*): Here’s your second chance at cool Keldor™, who was both a fan and critic favorite. This is a reissue, which means most packages will have a graphic burst on the package stating “The Original.” Not included with 2011 Club Eternia® subscriptions.
  • MOTUC Tytus™ Figure (reissue*): Literally the largest MOTUC figure we’ve ever released! Tytus™ stands 12” tall and comes with a club that can actually pick up other MOTUC figures (seriously!). Also a reissue, most packages will have a graphic burst on the package stating “The Original.” Not included with 2011 Club Eternia® subscriptions.

Now let’s get to something that’ll really get Club Eternia® subscribers’ hearts going pitter-patter… the 2011 club-exclusive figure!

Preternia Disguise He-Man™, the 2011 Club Eternia® exclusive figure, is based on the final vintage mini-comic The Powers of Grayskull Part 1. Hidden in a mask and cloak given to him by the Sorceress, he comes complete with his Bionatops Blaster and Power Sword® accessory. This special figure is available only to subscribers of 2011 Club Eternia® and can’t be purchased. In addition to the figure, subscribers will also receive a bonus map poster of Etheria drawn by legendary MOTU artist Roy Obrero! Both items will be shipped with Bow™ and Shadow Beast™, so you’ll receive one big box with all four items in it. If that that ain’t love, I don’t know what is!

Again, our February sale is Tuesday, February 15th at 9 a.m. Pacific (12 noon Eastern). I

— Matty

* A small percentage of customers will receive product from the first run and the package will not contain the burst. This is random and we cannot control which package will be received.

Daniel Pickett
Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since. In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website www.ActionFigureInsider.com. Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field. Daniel was regularly featured on “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network as the primary contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our front page has been linked to from USA Today’s “Pop Candy” Blog twice. Daniel’s content has also been featured on MSNBC.com, Wired.com, Fark.com, Boing-Boing, Gizmodo.com, Ain’t It Cool News, the Official Star Wars blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet and Toy Fare magazine, among many others. He has consulted on toy lines, books, documentaries and TV shows. But all of that really just sounds snooty and “tootin’ his own horn” – the long and short of it is that Daniel loves toys and he LOVES talking about them.
