New in the AFi Archive- Green Lantern Movie Masters – Hal Jordan, Abin Sur, Naut Ke Loi and The Green Man
May 20, 2011

We are catching up today with our Green Lantern movie coverage with a batch from Mattel’s Movie Masters line.    Several of these have been live in the AFi archives for a few weeks, I just hadn’t posted about them on the front page yet.

Today we will look at part of Wave 1 – Toys R Us exclusive Abin Sur and Hal Jordan, the MattyCollector.com exclusive GreenMan and Naut Ke Loi.  Previously we showed you wave 1 figure Rot Lop Fan and the single carded version of masked Hal Jordan.

There will be 12 figures in the Green Lantern Movie Masters Line. Two will be Hal Jordan (masked and unmasked). You will need 11 of the figures to make Parallax collect and connect figure (maskless Hal comes with a die cast ring in lieu of a Collect and Connect piece). So far all of the wave 1 figures I have seen have an arm/tentacle for the collect and connect Parallax piece.  Also the competed figure is still masked on the back of the package.   This was done to make sure the reveal of the movie version of Parallax was not spoiled, but the movie design has already been shown in the movie trailers and we have seen the character in one of Mattel’s offerings in the 4" Green Lantern movie line.

The first 6 figures in the mainline are: Hal Jordan,  Rot Lop Fan,  Tomar Re, Neut ke loi, Sinestro and Ismot Kol.  Some of these characters come with a lantern accessory and some do not.

Mattel recently revealed the upcoming Hector Hammond figure at Wonder Con He will be in the line later in the year.

There is a sneak peek GL Movie Master preview G’hu figure in the second wave of GL Classics.   There are two oversized figures in scale to the 6" line starting with Green Man and later on Kilowog.  Green Man is available now on MattyCollector.com.  Killwog will first be available at San Diego Comic Con and then later on MattyCollector.

Finally there are also 4 TRU exclusive Two-Packs. Abin Sur will be the only exclusive figure to these packs, the others will be re-decos and reissues. There are no accessories or build a figure parts in these packs, but they do come with 2 green stands.

Daniel Pickett
Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since. In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website www.ActionFigureInsider.com. Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field. Daniel was regularly featured on “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network as the primary contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our front page has been linked to from USA Today’s “Pop Candy” Blog twice. Daniel’s content has also been featured on MSNBC.com, Wired.com, Fark.com, Boing-Boing, Gizmodo.com, Ain’t It Cool News, the Official Star Wars blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet and Toy Fare magazine, among many others. He has consulted on toy lines, books, documentaries and TV shows. But all of that really just sounds snooty and “tootin’ his own horn” – the long and short of it is that Daniel loves toys and he LOVES talking about them.
