ALIEN VS PREDATOR POISED TO ATTACK HORRORCLIX!
“The Alien vs. Predator license adds two of the most fearsome creatures in science fiction to the HorrorClix game line,” said Jordan Weisman, WizKids® CEO. “When we asked in a recent online poll who the fans wanted to see most, Alien vs. Predator won the vote hands down. We’re just thrilled to bring the terror and excitement of Alien vs. Predator to the HorrorClix gaming experience.” “Our teams at Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising are thrilled to be working with WizKids on the ever-successful AVP franchise. We share their enthusiasm for this property, which has become a mainstay within the science-fiction genre. WizKids’ passion for exceptional product execution will not disappoint their fans, and Fox is proud to be a part of the HorrorClix collection this holiday and in 2007,” said Michael Peikoff, vice president of Domestic Licensing at Twentieth Century Fox. The first HorrorClix Collector’s Set, Aliens, contains seven combat-ready creatures from the vision of H.R. Geiger and as seen in the 2004 feature film Alien vs. Predator. The Aliens Collector’s Set debuts this December, and it is available first and at a discount to “Buy it by the Brick” customers who purchase HorrorClix at their local hobby-game retail stores. A “ClixBrick” is 12 shrink-wrapped, four-figure Booster Packs. The Predator set will debut in early 2007. Each set will include a special map detailing locations from the movie, including shifting walls in an ancient pyramid. HorrorClix mechanics are based on the industry-leading HeroClix® CMG, and the game allows players to build armies of werewolves, zombies, killer clowns and more in a wicked-fun, gore-filled romp. Imaginative characters and sculpting, great game play and an original storyline make HorrorClix a unique entry into the hobby-game market. The premiere HorrorClix release hits hobby-game stores worldwide on August 30, 2006. A special HorrorClix sneak peek is planned at the Origins International Game Expo in Columbus, OH, on June 29. The game will also be available at a presale in limited quantities at Gen Con in Indianapolis on August 10. For additional information, visit www.wizkidsgames.com. DIAMOND SELECT TOYS AND COLLECTIBLES, NEW FORCE TEAM UP FOR STAR TREK
Based on the latest Star Trek® feature film, the Nemesis Riker and Troi two-pack gives fans an all-new sculpt for Troi as well as new bodies for both of these beloved characters. After having finally tied the knot and ended their decade-long courtship, Commander William Riker and Counselor Deanna Troi were perfect choices for this exclusive twopack. “It is great to have New Force on board for Star Trek,” commented Chuck Terceira, Director of Diamond Select Toys, “They definitely have a strong presence in the Trek community and we are glad to be teaming up with them on this unique release.” Art Asylum has worked on the development and sculpting for this release, which features 20 points of articulation and multiple era-specific accessories as well as an all-new blister card packaging design large enough to accommodate the dual release. “We are very excited about DST and AA teaming up to bring the fans the future of Star Trek toys and collectibles,” commented Rick Whitelock, owner of New Force Comics. “We look forward to this being another successful release amongst many Star Trek products that we will be able to offer to the Star Trek community and fandom.” DIAMOND SELECT TOYS LOOKS TO THE STARS WITH BATTLESTAR GALACTICA COLLECTIBLES
"With Battlestar Galactica, it was an incredibly easy decision to make when Art Asylum approached us," said Diamond Select Toys Marketing and Sales Supervisor, Michael Leavey. "Art Asylum quickly added it to their library of properties and, as with our Star Trek line, we immediately began talks to help produce the highest quality products possible." With designs already well underway, DST and Art Asylum plan to release several resin busts featuring key characters from both series as well as a miniaturized line of Minimate block figures. While specific details and images are not yet available, early Minimate prototypes were featured during February’s American International Toy Fair in New York. The first series of Minimates is expected to ship later this year.

Gouken's Story
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Gouken (Japanese for Strong Fist) and his brother Akuma were taught
the killing art of Goutetsu-ry by its founder, Goutetsu. Gouken
abhorred the violence inherent to the system and was more interested
in the spiritual side of the art. Gouken witnessed the death of
his master at Akuma's hands.
His first student was Dan, a young man who had some background
in Muay Thai. However, he had to release Dan after discovering
that Dan's purpose for learning Ansatsuken was to gain vengeance
for his father's death. Gouken later adopted an orphan named Ryu
and started training the boy. He then accepted Ken Masters as
a second student, as was custom for Ansatsuken.
Akuma challenged his brother to a duel, loudly declaring himself to be the true heir of Ansatsuken. He was soundly defeated by Gouken. As his brother slunk away, Gouken remarked to his two young students how Akuma had corrupted his Hadou no Chikara (Power of Hado) and that when Akuma returned, he would bring calamity to the school.
Sadly, Gouken was correct. Akuma did return years later, fully
embracing the killing intent called Satsui no Hadou, making Akuma
many times more devastating. He killed Gouken while his pupils
Ryu and Ken were away taking part in different tournaments. Gouken's
daughter witnessed the whole thing, and Ken returned just in time
to see the end of the Shun Goku Satsu. Ken fought Akuma in blind
rage to avenge his master. He was defeated (but not killed) by
Akuma.

Hasbro to Offer Limited Edition Star Wars George Lucas Action Figure
Pawtucket, RI (April 2006) – The Star Wars galaxy is full of characters who set out on a quest to find something of great value: Boba Fett searched for Han Solo in order to secure a valuable bounty from Jabba the Hut; Luke Skywalker set out to return his father to the light side; and now, Star Wars fans have a chance to embark on a similar search to capture the crowning action figure of any collection: a limited edition George Lucas in Stormtrooper Disguise tribute figure.
Beginning this April, fans are invited to participate in the “Star Wars Ultimate Galactic Hunt” to secure a limited edition George Lucas Stormtrooper action figure, which will not be available at retail locations. To obtain the prize, collectors and fans must tap their inner Jango Fett and search for the new Star Wars vintage figures.
“As the architect of the Star Wars galaxy, George Lucas has entertained millions of fans with his classic space saga of good versus evil,” said Derryl Depriest, brand Director for Hasbro’s Star Wars division. “The new action figure allows Hasbro to honor Lucas, the greatest character in the universe.”
In order to partake in this unparalleled hunt, collectors must find and mail five proof-of-purchase stickers (plus shipping and handling) from the new vintage figures in order to obtain the George Lucas figure. The assortment of classic KENNER-style figures will include Luke Skywalker in X-Wing Pilot outfit, Han Solo in Trenchcoat, Greedo, Biker Scout, and Sand People.
In addition, throughout the spring, special limited edition “Silver Foil” packaged figures will be available at retail locations. This prized variation, ideal for the die-hard Star Wars collector, includes a foil package, a special vac-metal silver foil display base, and a silver-painted version of the hologram figure. There will be 10 different Silver Foil figures in this line. These include: Darth Vader, Han Solo (w/Carbonite), Boba Fett, Snowtrooper, AT-AT Driver, Commander Cody, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, General Grievous, and Scorch (from Star Wars: Republic Commando).
For the true bounty hunters, several store exclusive figures are available this May as well. Toys ‘R Us will feature the Clone Wars Gunship and The Hunt for Grievous Battle Pack. And Target will offer The Demise of Grievous super-premium 3.75” figure and Skirmish in the Senate battle pack.
The approximate retail price for Vintage figures is $9.99. The approximate retail price for the basic figures is $6.99. Figures will be available at mass merchandise locations nationwide. All figures introduced as part of the “Star Wars Ultimate Galactic Hunt” will have a special foil sticker that call attention to their inclusion in the hunt.

Thousand Oaks, CA - Sideshow Collectibles and Electric
Tiki, two of the most respected companies in the collectibles
industry, have announced plans to join forces. Sideshow will be
the exclusive distributor of Electric Tiki's animated style products,
and together the two companies will expand into new areas of design,
development and manufacturing.
"We have a long standing respect for Electric Tiki's product and philosophy," says Greg Anzalone, President and CEO of Sideshow Collectibles. "We're very pleased to make Electric Tiki's products more available to collectors, and we're excited to add even more diversity to Sideshow's offerings. Electric Tiki's animated style product is the best on the market." Sideshow will be marketing and distributing all of Electric Tiki's brands, including the Teeny Weeny Mini-Maquette line, the "Tooned-Up" Television Maquette series, the Classic Heroes Collection, and Electric Tiki's original creations.
Electric Tiki produces high-end, limited-edition collectibles from a variety of properties, including Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Munsters, Married With Children, Elvira, Mighty Mouse, Hellboy, and many more. President and CEO Tracy Mark Lee has had a long history with film and television, working as an animator with Disney before founding Electric Tiki in 2001. "It has been a dream of mine since I started Electric Tiki that someday we would get out of the garage and into the mainstream," says Tracy. "We have strived to be unique and imaginative in an industry where imitation tends to be the standard. When Sideshow's Creative Director, Tom Gilliland, contacted me and proposed the idea of becoming our exclusive distributor, it was the best gift I could have asked for as we celebrate our 5th Anniversary. I have always been a huge fan of what Sideshow does and the parallel of our humble beginnings make us the perfect match. Sideshow products are nothing short of high drama and we hope to bring some light comedy to their product range. Their focus on quality product above all else is extremely rare. Having Sideshow's great team behind our product will only enhance our brand identity as well as giving the products worldwide exposure. It is an honor for us to partner with Sideshow and I look forward to many exciting collaborations."
Sideshow will begin to accept pre-orders for new Electric Tiki products in April, including beloved characters such as Dick Tracy and Woody Woodpecker. Future offerings will include Lily Munster, Lobster Johnson, and Lassie. Collectors will also have the opportunity to add some of the currently available Electric Tiki gems to their collection, including The Lone Ranger, Flash Gordon, Betty Boop, and others! Although the first character from NECA and the Four Horsemen's
4th wave of Masters of the Universe Mini-Statues, Snake-Face
was revealed months ago, the final two characters from the wave
have been patiently waiting in the darkened wings to pounce.
Skeletor's horrifying beast of capture, Webstor and Hordak's most vile thug, Leech will round out the 4th wave making this the most evil grouping yet! There should be more solid information by the time the Summer convention season begins, but we¹re shooting for an early Fall release date for these monstrosities.
Speaking of Summer conventions, NECA and Four Horsemen are proud to offer not one, but two different Masters of the Universe exclusives that will be available in these forms nowhere else except at NECA's booth at the 2006 San Diego Comic Con and Wizard World Chicago 2006!
First, after a long hiatus, the Masters of the Universe Micro-Busts make their triumphant and possibly very brief return to the limelight with the release of the Teela, Mekaneck and Man-at-Arms Micro-Busts! These will be sold exclusively at NECA¹s SDCC and WWC booths as an extremely limited, boxed three-pack! No word yet if this series will continue again after the release of these babies, so be sure to get your hands on these tiny slices of MOTU history while you still can!
Next up, NECA and the Four Horsemen are proud to offer the Classic Colors Evil-Lyn Mini-Statue! Again, this very limited version of this Mini-Statue will only be available for purchase at NECA's SDCC and WWC booths. If you know anything about past MOTU convention exclusives, then you know that this is one convention exclusive that you don¹t want to miss!
Rest assured, this version of Evil-Lyn isn't just a re-cast of the Evil-Lyn toy from a couple of years ago. Not only does this version have a classic colors paint scheme, but all of the parts that were once re-used from Teela for the action-figure have all been replaced with parts that are all Evil-Lyn's very own! This is the way Evil-Lyn was meant to be: fiery yellow, cold blue and totally evil!
Got your convention passes? Got your plane tickets? Got your hotel rooms? If not, this is your last warning. We'd hate to have to send Evil-Lyn after you.
Power Rangers Fans & Young Aspiring Directors Can Win $5,000 By Showcasing Their Creative Filmmaking Talents
(Cypress, CA - April 17, 2006) - One Power Rangers fan can win a $5,000 scholarship by tapping into his/her inner filmmaker for the “What Happens Next?” Complete the Ending Contest. From April through June 2006, Bandai America Incorporated - the manufacturer behind this popular and 14-year strong toy line - is calling for kids to submit their own videos or photos showcasing their Power Rangers Mystic Force action figures and other products in action. The unique contest asks fans to use their creativity and imagination to come up with a thrilling conclusion to the cliffhanger battle scene that is currently featured online at GetPowerized.com, the official Web site of Bandai America’s toy line.
The scene featured on GetPowerized.com takes kids through a classic confrontation of good versus evil, featuring the Spring lineup of Power Rangers Mystic Force action figures and vehicles against the relentlessly attacking Evil Space Aliens. Though it seems that the Power Rangers will prevail, the mysterious ending indicates that there might be more to come. Kids can create the next chapter using video/digital or cameras, computers, etc. - along with the help of a parent, older sibling or friend. At the end of each month during the contest period, other fans can visit the Web site and vote for their favorite entry, with three finalists going on to quality for the cash scholarship prize. Each vote is also a sweepstakes entry for an additional boy or girl to win Power Rangers DVDs and other prizes.
“The GetPowerized.com movie is not only an imaginative way to showcase our product line, it closely resembles how our fans like to play out the adventures that they see on their favorite TV show,” said Matt Golding, director of marketing for Bandai America Inc. “This contest is a great way for them to capture all the fun and excitement that they have with their Power Rangers toys on camera for the chance to win a great cash prize. And since today’s kids are so much more tech savvy, we’re really looking forward to seeing all the entries and how imaginative they are.”
With unique visual and sound effects, the online battle scene features stop motion animation that has become popular again with movies featuring clay animation. Stop motion is an animation technique that makes static objects - like a Power Rangers 5” and 6.5” action figure - appear to move on its own.
The contest is open to children under 8 years old and the winner will be determined by a fan vote online. Kids are encouraged to put on their director hats and come up with the most compelling visual story. The contest period runs from April 1st through June 30th. For further information and rules, please visit www.GetPowerized.com.
Since its launch in late 2004, GetPowerized.com has become the premier destination for Power Rangers fans to interact with the toy line and brand. In addition to seeing TV commercials and the products in unique 3-D displays, one of the most exciting features of the site is the Wish List, which enables kids to generate gift lists of their favorite action figures, Megazords and role-play items to share with parents, grandparents and others. Soon, the Family Activity Page will also launch with fun and interactive Rangers-themed activities for the whole family, such as the “Construct & Create Your Own Megazord” in which kids build their own Megazords using items commonly found around the house.
In the latest iteration of the Power Rangers’ story, five brave young teens are called forth to take up the challenge and fight for the survival of the planet. Under the guidance of their wise mentor Udonna and the ancient Xenotome, the Book of the Unknown, these five Sorcerers embark on mystical adventures, befriend magical dragons and battle dangerous beasts. Power Rangers Mystic Force debuted in February 2006 as the dynamic 14th season of this perennially popular boys’ franchise. As a major ratings and retail powerhouse, the new series airs 25 times a week on ABC Kids and the Jetix boys’ action block on ABC Family and Toon Disney.

Retailer makes never-before-seen Marvel Legends available in May foravid fans
NEW YORK, NY, April 10, 2006 - Toy Biz announced today the launch of an all new Marvel Legends line available only at Wal-Mart's 3200+ locations nationwide.
"Toy Biz continues to showcase the greatest legends of the
Marvel Universe by providing the expert sculpting and articulation
that fans
have come to expect," said Patricia Rinaldi, Director of
Marketing. "We are pleased to partner with Wal-Mart to make
this exclusive assortment available to our fans this May."
The Marvel Legends assortment will feature never-before-seen characters and new versions of all-time fan favorites like Warbird, Captain Britain, Havoc, Thor, Ant-Man, Sentry, Wolverine, Kitty Pride and Sabretooth. Fans can collect all 9 figures to build their very own 14" Giant Man! The line continues to push the envelope on poseability, boasting over 30 points of articulation in each 6" figure!
We've
been getting a lot of requests to make the FANtastic Exclusive
2006: 7th Kingdom Minotaur figure available at other possible
outlets besides just the 2006 San Diego Comic Con.
Well, just like most of the other aspects of FANtastic Exclusive, we¹re going to put this up to a vote. You tell us.
Should we make the Minotaur figure available for purchase through the FANtastic Exclusive website as well as Comic Con? Should registered members of the FANtastic Exclusive message boards be the only people allowed to order the Minotaur through the website? Should we seek out other venues in which to release the Minotaur action figure?
It¹s three simple 'yes or no' questions. Simple enough, right? Just go over to the Round 6 voting section at http//:www.FANtasticExclusive.com to let us know what you think. Also, don't forget to come to the forum and share your opinions in greater detail so that we know exactly what you want to see.
http://www.customoftheyear.com (April 14, 2006). The 2nd annual Custom of the Year (COTY) awards is proud to announce this year’s winners. After nominees were selected by a committee of celebrity judges and two weeks of voting by the online community, winners were decided in over 20 categories including Best Marvel, Best Sculpture and, of course, Custom of the Year.
“This year’s awards had excellent entries all around,” said COTY founder Tommy Sanchez, “Just over 4,000 votes were cast in what was some really tough and close competition.” All the winners can be found at http://www.fwooshnet.com.
“I’m also proud to present this year’s Honorary Award to CustomCon,” announced Mr. Sanchez, “For the last seven years they’ve promoted a spirit of sharing, innovative ideas, praise and cooperation within the customizing community.”
CustomCon has literally hosted thousands of customs over 14 online conventions that display lines or series of customs, similar in nature to Toyfair. While the hosts have gone through several websites, the current roster of hosts includes Cason Pilliod and Joe Acevedo of toymania.com and joeacevedo.com respectively.
However, the COTY awards also suffered a loss this year. Liz FitzSimon, who created the COTY website and logo and was a general consultant on the founding of the COTY awards, passed away this week at the age of 27 after a battle with cancer.
“Liz was a wonderful person, a great graphic design artist, and a life-long friend,” explained Mr. Sanchez, “In her memory I’m announcing the Elizabeth FitzSimon Award for Best Website and also asking for donations to a cause close to her heart.”
Donations can be made one of two ways:
Make checks payable and mailed to:
Providence St. Joesph Foundatin Cancer Center

Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles (DST), LLC and MGM Consumer
Products are excited to announce plans for a free Stargate SG-1
Elite Serpent Guard action figure available this spring as part
of a promotional program.
Stargate SG-1 action figures are scheduled to debut in June 2006. By purchasing four of DST’s Stargate SG-1 figures, customers will be able to redeem their UPCs for a free exclusive Elite Serpent Guard action figure featuring a repainted armor design as part of a promotional mailing program.
“We’re very pleased at the response our Stargate SG-1 figures have received and we’re glad to be able to offer fans another much-requested figure to add to their collections,” said Chuck Terceira, Director of Diamond Select Toys.
The first series of Stargate SG-1 action figures is scheduled for release this spring and will feature Colonel Jack O’Neill, General Jack O’Neill, Daniel Jackson and a Serpent Guard as well as a Diamond Previews exclusive Black Ops Jack figure. With a second series due out later this year, fans will be able to build their own figure-sized Stargate with the pieces included in these releases.
Stargate SG-1 is currently filming its tenth season and Stargate: Atlantis is entering its third season. Both Sci-Fi Channel series have received critical acclaim for their writing, acting, special effects and more. With over two million viewers per episode, the Stargate franchise is as strong as ever.
At
long last, SOTA Toys has the Mega Scale Lord of Darkness figure
in stock. Standing a gigantic 21-inches tall and beautifully designed,
this figure is truly an amazing collectible.
As we have said before, there are three things that SOTA wants to communicate about this figure:
1) The packaging cannot be in mint condition - it is too large
and heavy for that.
2) Darkness's head can pop off inside the packaging, but it pops
back on easily.
3) Darkness is not poseable at the waist and can be broken if
twisted at the waist.
The manufacturing run on the Darkness figure was extremely limited and SOTA will be sold out very soon. If you did not have a Darkness on pre-order with SOTA or another retailer and you manage to get a Darkness, consider yourself lucky!
Winners, Honorary award to be announced Friday.
http://www.customoftheyear.com (April 11, 2006). The 2nd annual Custom of the Year awards is closing its polls on Wednesday, April 12th at 7pm EST. Currently there are nearly 4.000 votes that have been cast so far through online polling but the organizers are looking for more.
“The quality of this year’s nominees are fantastic and simply works of art,“ said Custom of the Year founder Tommy Sanchez, “I wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on this event and I hope that each category can receive at least 300 votes.”
Participants must register on www.fwooshnet.com, where the polls are being hosted, before they can vote, which takes less than 5 minutes. The polls can be found on the forums for the site.
The nominating judges for this year include Eric “Cornboy” Mayse of Four Horsemen Studios, Jerry Macaluso, President of SOTA Toys Inc., Kat Sapene, head painter at SOTA Toys Inc., Daniel "Julius Marx" Pickett of Action Figure Insider, and Michael Crawford of Michael's Review of the Week.
Entries were taken in over twenty categories, including Best Marvel, Best Sculpture, Best Packaging and Custom of the Year. In addition an Honorary Award will be given out which recognizes lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the art of customizing or outstanding service to the toy industry.
All winners will be announced on Friday, April 14 on this site and others.
For more information, including last year’s winners, new entry guidelines and updated rules, please visit www.customoftheyear.com.

Our Friend Boy Wonder at Mattel has been SUPER busy lately, but he wanted to get the word out on what is up with the lines we all love, so he graciously put together this newsletter in his nonexistent spare time!
News for DCSH 4.6.06
Over the coarse of the last week, I have been putting this newsletter together for the collector community.
DC Superfriends-
We are doing a preschool line! We are hoping to launch the line in Spring 2007. Given the late start, we are working close with our friends at Fisher Price to get this line out on time. Right now, the line is very preliminary, but there will be more to come. Right now we are looking at having a My First Batmobile, some Motorcycles, Basic and Deluxe figures.
JLU
When I came onto the brand last September, it was very clear that
you wanted Doomsday and Grundy, and it was my personal challenge
to get them in the 2006 line. This was hard because they do not
fit in our single pack or three pack structure. However, here
is how they will fit into the line.
Comicon-
We are doing a Grundy figure. The figure will have a completely
new sculpt. There will be a rumble pack package that will fit
into the sewer theme. We will also be selling Wave 4 Superman
figures at Comicon.
Doomsday-
We will put him in a Target exclusive 6 pack. This pack is meant
to target the collectors and mom. Start looking for the 6 packs
in the fall at Target.
I am still managing Justice League. We are developing product for all of 2007. We have new packaging for 2007. We will offer the single packs, three packs, 10" figures, and Die Cast. I am working on getting new Die Cast and 10" figures in the market.
Change in strategy for 2007. In the three packs, we will have
some three packs with two new figures. We also have some new figures
that will launch in the single packs. For the most part, we will
still launch the majority of the new figures in the 3 packs, and
most of the three packs will only have one new figure, but I wanted
to address your concerns. It's the least I can do since you have
done such an awesome job supporting this line.
DC Super Heroes 6" line
Promotions for 6" DCSH figures-
We will not do the base promotion because we could not execute it internationally. I want our international collectors to have the same access to product that is given to our US consumers.
Instead, wave 3 (Batman Wave) will be packed out with dioramas.
The Batman diorama looks awesome, and I think you will be excited.
Going into 2007, we are limited to Batman and Superman for the
6" line. However, the 6" line will be different in two
ways. First, it will be part of our S3 series, which is what we
are labeling all of our premium sculpts form the 4 Horseman in
the DC world. Start looking for S3 because that will be the way
for you to know that you are getting a premium sculpt from Mattel.
S3 stands for Select Sculpt Series.
The second change in 2007 will be our Build-a-Figure
execution. If you buy all of the figures in a wave, you will be
able to build one massive villain. Yes, we are using Marvel's
strategy. More to come...
2006 Wave 2- I still have not seen them in stores, but I know
they are shipping. We have HUGE production issues with this line,
which is a major reason why I have not been on here for a while.
However, it looks like we are out of the woods. Anyway, I know
Superman will be shipping soon, so please let me know when you
see him.
Since this wave will be out until mid summer, we added two more
figures that will come out in June. Both are variant Superman
and Supergirl figures. They should be out in the market around
4th of July.
The 2006 6" line will have 4 waves. Two waves of Batman and
two wave of Superman. We had a third wave of Batman planned, but
that wave will come out sometime in 2007.
As for 2007 wave 1, it looks like we are planning to start with
a Superman wave. However, at this point, it is up to God to get
the product out on time. We are so late, that we have to put all
of our resources on getting the product out.
The
Batman
I am also managing Batman Animated. We are keeping this line kid focused because we have noticed that there is not much collector interest. However, if you are interested in hearing what is going on in that line, please post in the Mattel Forum.
On a side note, I wish I can spend more time on the sites with you. It really is a lot of fun talking to you guys, and once I get more support, I plan to be back on the sites regularly. I also got to meet some of you at LA Wizard World, and it was great getting to talk to everyone. I hope I can meet more of you at Comicon and Wizard World Chicago this year. I appreciate the passion that you have for my lines, and I look forward to more input from you.

With
the Spring 2006 release date fast approaching for Diamond Select
Toys' upcoming Buffy the Vampire Slayer action figure release,
the details surrounding the exclusive "Primeval" Buffy
action figure have been revealed! As part of an effort to bring
the best figures possible to fans, the "Primeval" Buffy
figure will be available exclusively from Diamond Select Toys'
online and will go one sale in June! While the figure will only
be available to U.S. fans through the DST web site, a limited
quantity will also be available in Europe, the U.K. and Australia.
Due out in May of this year, the full release of seven action figures features the many incarnations of the Summers sisters - Buffy and Dawn! In addition to the core release of Chosen Buffy, Lessons Dawn and the limited Once More With Feeling Dawn, three exclusive figures were previously announced for release. "Primeval" Buffy marks the fourth and final exclusive figure and joins the ranks of Time and Space Toys' Buffybot, Action Figure Xpress' Cheerleader Buffy and Diamond Previews' Vampire Buffy. Each action figure also features the scanned likeness of Buffy stars Sarah Michelle Gellar or Michelle Trachtenberg!
"This is the first DST-exclusive Buffy figure we've released," stated Michael Leavey, Marketing and Sales Supervisor for Diamond Select Toys. "We've done some internet-only specials before, but fan response to "Primeval" Buffy was so strong we knew we had a great opportunity to try something new and get a great exclusive in the hands of consumers."
20th Century Fox Vice-President of Licensing Michael Peikoff noted “Diamond Select Toys continues to impress both the trade and the core fans with the Buffy line-- their product execution and attention to detail is what makes DST’S product offerings stand out in the marketplace”
Sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios, "Primeval" Buffy features
several episode-specific accessories including an Initiative tazer,
axe, stake as well as Adam's power core. An Initiative-style base
allows fans to recreate the Season 4 battle, which featured a
"Super-Slayer" Buffy taking on the demon/human/robot
hybrid, Adam.
SOTA
Toys wants to get the word out about the mega scale Electronic
Talking Darkness Figure that is just beginning to arrive in stores.
First, Darkness is not articulated at the waist. This figure is so large that it had to be made of more than one piece, which means that there is a joint at the waist. This joint is not articulated and is not meant to be twisted. If you get a Darkness and twist his waist hard enough, you will break it. When Darkness is broken at the waist it is fairly easy to repair with glue, but SOTA wants as many people as possible to know that the waist is NOT articulated. Darkness is articulated at the neck and slightly articulated at the shoulders.
Second, mint packaging basically does not exist for a piece this large and heavy. When you look at your Darkness in person, we think you'll agree that Darkness is one of the greatest figures ever made. But there no way to keep the packaging in mint condition when shipping a product of this size and weight.
We hope that everyone enjoys their Darkness figure. We wanted both of these issues well known, because Darkness is sold out virtually everywhere and replacements from retailers or SOTA will not be available.

Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles, LLC has teamed up with Action
Figure Xpress(www.actionfigurexpress.com) to create an exclusive
Buffy the Vampire Slayer action figure of the title character
from the first season episode “The Witch.”
This figure which depicts Buffy as a cheerleader, stands 6” tall and was sculpted by Gentle Giant from a digital scan of Sarah Michelle Gellar. This exclusive - which is scheduled to be released in May - comes with 16 points of articulation; as well as stake, pom poms, a cheerleader trophy and a Sunnydale High Gym base.
"This figure captures Buffy in one of her earliest appearances and makes a great addition to any collection," said Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles Marketing Coordinator Mike Leavey.
“Part of what made Buffy such a great character is that she started off as a popular blonde cheerleader and wound up saving the world on several occasions,” said Pat Wang of Action Figure Xpress. “It’s great to see how her unlikely origins have both helped and hurt her over the years, especially with the Cheerleader Buffy figure.”
“The versatility and multi-dimensional nature of Buffy are just a few of the reasons the character continues to be so popular with it’s loyal audience.Diamond Select and Action Figure Express have joined forces creatively to bring one of Buffy’s early iterations to the market—which will ,without a doubt, satisfy both the Buffy collector as well as it’s core audience of fans” noted Michael Peikoff,Vice-President of Domestic Licensing for 20th Century Fox Licensing&Merchandising.
For quite a while, sotatoys.com
has only sold their exclusive and limited edition products to
collectors inside the USA. As of today,
collectors from around the world are welcome to visit sotatoys.com
and purchase whatever they desire.
In an effort to make shipping costs affordable, all rates are based on the US Postal Service's Airmail International rates. SOTA is happy to announce this improvement, as it has always been an issue that we couldnot get collectibles into the hands of everyone who wanted them.
Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles, LLC (DST) recently signed its newest license, Marvel character based upcoming blockbuster X-MEN: THE FINAL STAND. Under an agreement with Marvel Entertainment, DST will start development and production of several collectible product lines based on the X-MEN: THE FINAL STAND feature film with a planned release date of spring 2006.
“The addition of X-MEN: THE FINAL STAND to DST’s licenses will give us the opportunity to bring X-Men movie characters to life with the likenesses of actors from the film. The X-Men products will be popular with fans of the comics and films alike,” Mike Leavey, Marketing Supervisor for Diamond Select remarked.
DST’s X-MEN: THE FINAL STAND line is expected to include statues, busts and Minimates. Gentle Giant Studios, who scanned the actors from the film, will complete the statues and busts which will feature the X-MEN: THE FINAL STAND actors’ likenesses for the first time. Line plan information and images will be available at the upcoming International Toy Fair.
X-MEN: THE FINAL STAND, from 20th Century Fox, is currently in post-production and will be released globally on May 26, 2006. With a cast including Hugh Jackman as Wolverine™, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey™, Halle Berry as Storm™, Kelsey Grammer as Beast™, Ian McKellen as Magneto™ and Patrick Stewart as Professor X, this all-star lineup is sure to be a blockbuster sensation.
DST, known for its high-end collectables and resin pieces, is looking forward to adding the X-MEN: THE FINAL STAND products to its already successful Marvel, Star Trek and Buffy the Vampire Slayer products as well as future Marvel movie properties.
Entries also sought in underrepresented categories.
http://www.customoftheyear.com (January 30, 2006). The 2nd annual Custom of the Year awards is extending its deadline to 11:59pm EST on Friday, February 3rd, 2006.
“This year has been a year of change for the awards,” said Custom of the Year founder Tommy Sanchez, “and to insure that all participants have time to adjust to and review the rules, I felt that extending the deadline would benefit everybody involved.”
The deadline extension will not affect the timeline for the rest of the Custom of the Year awards. The deadline also gives participants a chance to boost some of the underrepresented awards from last year.
“There’s a huge community out there for Star Wars, Muppets, He-man, and I’d love to see representation for those categories grow,” continued Mr. Sanchez, “In addition we have the new category for Breakthrough Customizer that’s going to be a tough one for many to judge.”
The category of Breakthrough Customizer was accidentally left off of the instructions on how to enter but could be found in the rules page at http://www.customoftheyear.com/custom.rules.html.
The five person committee of judges will vote on entries in all categories to determine nominees. Nominees will then be voted on by the public.
The judges nominations will be made public on March 15th. Voting
will end by the public on March 24th and winners announced and
posted on March 27th. Categories included this year run the gamut
of Best Sculpture, Best Website, Best Marvel, and, of course,
Custom of the Year.

entry guidelines and updated rules, please visit www.customoftheyear.com

With the first series of Diamond Select Toys’ Street Fighter® Minimates nearing completion, Diamond Select Toys is excited to announce two exclusive two-packs only available through Action Figure Xpress!
The first twopack includes the beautiful yet deadly Chun-Li versus her incredibly powerful nemesis, M. Bison – each in their Player 2 outfits. In addition, the pink Chun-Li and the grey M. Bison will feature all-new faces to further distinguish them from their Player 1 counterparts!
“With so many different costumes available, the Player 2 versions are the most recognizable to fans,” says Michael Leavey, Diamond Select Toys’ Marketing and Sales Coordinator. “Anyone who has played the Street Fighter games against friends will recognize these exclusives.”
Not to be outdone, the second exclusive twopack features the immensely popular Ryu versus the unstoppable Akuma – also in their Player 2 clothes. The grey and blue Ryu is a noticeable departure from his classic white and red costume – the most recognized Street Fighter outfit from any of the video games. Akuma, dressed in red and black, is also quite the variation of his Player 1 coloring. Also featuring new faces, these popular Street Fighters are ready to fight!
Both exclusive twopacks will feature the usual Minimate articulation and stand two inches tall. Energy blasts are included with each character as well, to simulate their advanced fighting techniques. Scheduled for release this March, more details can be found at www.shopafx.com and www.diamondselecttoys.com.

Online
retailer Time and Space Toys will be offering an exclusive Buffybot
action figure, based on the robotic double of Buffy the Vampire
Slayer from the hit TV show. When Buffy spurned the romantic advances
of Spike, he had the Buffybot built as his robot lover. The Buffybot
was later reprogrammed to replace the deceased Buffy as the Slayer
for a brief time. Sculpted by Gentle Giant, this new figure is
scheduled to be released in Spring 2006 as a Time and Space Toys
exclusive.
“The Buffybot was a great transitional character; one that
offered humor, sex appeal and all things techno-geeky to the viewer”
said Time and Space Toys President Kevin Kriess. “The robot
was able to transition Spike's obsessions for Buffy to his genuine
affection for her and then used to transition life without the
Slayer to the moment of her rebirth.”
Gentle Giant and DST came together to create a detailed rendering of Sarah Michelle Gellar's portrayal of the Buffybot. Standing approximately 6" tall, this exclusive comes with an axe, stake and battery as well as a display base taken from Spike’s crypt.
“The Buffybot was such a fun part of the show and we knew
we wanted to include it in the action figure release,” commented
Michael Leavey of Diamond Select Toys. “Time and Space Toys
has been a strong supporter of our Buffy and Angel lines in the
past and we’re excited to continue working with them. “Michael
Peikoff, VP of Domestic Licensing for Twentieth Century Fox noted
“There is a built-in and extremely passionate fan base for
the ‘Buffy’ property and we are thrilled that Diamond
& Time and Space toys are bringing BUFFYBOT to the marketplace. The
BUFFYBOT was an integral part of the storyline and we believe
this rendering will resonate with both fans and collectors”.
