#NYTF Sneak Peek – @Playmobil ‘s New Ghostbusters 2 Line
February 12, 2018

Last year Playmobil did a deep dive into the world of licensed sets with their incredible How To Train Your Dragon line and their stellar Ghostbusters line that they debuted at Toy Fair 2017.   The Ghostbusters sets in particular were a delight to build and dynamite to display.   The sets were packed full of play value and little Easter Eggs from the original film and just had fun extras like the sticky slime splats you could stick on things.

This year they are back with Ghostbusters II sets and they have allowed AFi a sneak peek at one of the new sets ahead of their debut this week at New York Toy Fair. These Ghostbusters II sets look to have the same charm and fun, but this time around there’s a added twist!

Today we are taking a look at the 24 piece Winston Zeddmore set:

Winston comes in his darker uniform with support vest for his pink slime tank (with hose and nozzle) and his PK meter.  He also comes with an opening trap and extra sticky slime.

We have seen the trap accessory before in last years Ghostbusters set, but this year, with Ghostbusters II they are plusing it up with the brand new Playmogram 3D technology.  With Playmogram 3D you have the added feature of catching (and releasing) a 3D holographic ghost with your trap.

With the optional Playmogram 3D Holo-Pyramid and a smart phone fans can capture four 3D movie accurate ghosts.  The effect is fun and well done.

They even include a cardboard shield to help with the illusion if you are in a brightly lit room:

Download the app:

Follow the on-screen instructions:

And in no time you will be busting ghosts like a professional!

I was going to include a video of the app in action, but I feel like it would be more fun not to spoil that illusions and let you experience it first hand as it was intended.

We will know more about that new Ghostbusters II figures and accessories will be released in 2018 starting this weekend when Toy Fair 2018 kicks off!  We will bring you that news as soon as we have it as part of AFi Toy Fair 2018 coverage!

Daniel Pickett
Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since. In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website www.ActionFigureInsider.com. Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field. Daniel was regularly featured on “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network as the primary contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our front page has been linked to from USA Today’s “Pop Candy” Blog twice. Daniel’s content has also been featured on MSNBC.com, Wired.com, Fark.com, Boing-Boing, Gizmodo.com, Ain’t It Cool News, the Official Star Wars blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet and Toy Fare magazine, among many others. He has consulted on toy lines, books, documentaries and TV shows. But all of that really just sounds snooty and “tootin’ his own horn” – the long and short of it is that Daniel loves toys and he LOVES talking about them.
