Love the nostalgic feel of these DCUC and that they have given such a nod to the Super Powers line. My all time favorite toy line as a kid. It was the 1st time many of us who were not die-hard comic book readers got introduced to characters like Dr. Fate, Firestorm, Martian Manhunter and Red Tornado.

I have recently started going back to getting the modern versions of my favorite Super Powers figures. Thanks for this guide.

Sorry to be a Johnny-come-lately, but I just discovered your blog, and more importantly this post…I don’t think I can contain the sheer joy I feel after seeing this poster mock-up, sir. I had no idea DCUC was so close to matching the SP line. I’ve been trying to do the same thing myself recently with DCUC but including Brave and the Bold and JLU, and also including characters from the Super Friends show that were not in the SP line (why Kenner didn’t just follow the SF character line-up I’ll never know). As a sidebar, my heart leaped out of my chest and I SPRINTED to the Target checkout when I finally saw JLU’s 3-pack of Samurai, Apache Chief, and Black Vulcan. BOO-YOW.

I had a secondary graphic of Clark and the 4th wave figures they didn’t make but we’ve gotten in DCUC (Man-Bat, Kid Flash, etc) but didn’t finish it.

And Brainlock, that Tomart’s article was nearly 100% made up based on them seeing a few pieces of concept art from the original pitch. NEVER trust that mag for info, just for nice pics.

Have we all forgotten about the AWESOME Clark Kent figure we got in DCSH? I love the orignal SP one and still have the mailer box along with the figure it came in back in 84 or 85….it also came with a record. It was the “Super Friends” vs Darkseid….anyone remember that?….Anyway, Clark was part of the SP bunch and I personally am very happy to have that figure in the scale with DCUC. He also came with that generic file folder that just added something more to the figure itself……Mr. Otter, you should add him to that visual checklist….I would like to think that since Mattel has reigns to the DC Universe and even though GP and Cyclotron were characters created for the SF show (maybe Samurai too)….we should see the SP Collection realised. I do agree however that Mr. Freeze could use a little minor tooling (throw him in a TRU 2 pack or add him in a Walmart Exclusive Wave…….wait….don’t do that…..Give us our classic Dick Grayson and if that C&C Darkseid comes true….pure awesomeness……

I figured Samurai was a given for 13 and Tyr for 14, but nothing’s necessarily a given in this business. Consider that a rumor then.
Great pic, but that isn’t Dick Grayson Robin, plus a retooled Mr.Freeze might be in order.

Dick and J’onn are the two most glaring omissions, right now.
(altho regularly released Plas and Samurai would be welcomed!)

Let’s not forget who else was in the upcoming waves: Lois Lane, Wonder Girl, Blue Devil, pre-Crisis Supergirl.

…Dang, that’s all I can remember from that Tomarts column several years back. I know they had a NTT side-line (Kory, Gar, & Raven?) and Titans Tower playset in the works with Lois’ chopper, GL recharge/comm station, among others.

I was just thinking about this checklist last week. Thanks for updating it. It would be great if we get Desaad, MM, Samurai, Tyr, and Golden Pharaoh/Cyclotron 2-pack before SDCC next year with Plastic Man to top it off. Maybe Mattel will make a Super Powers poster similar to this available at SDCC.

Completing the Super Powers lineup is a great thing indeed! Even though I pick and choose my DCUC purchases, I want to see it happen.

And it sure wouldn’t hurt if we saw the same thing happen for Justice League Unlimited(hint, hint, Mattel)

I really hope that Desaad doesn’t end up with the goofy-ish SP harness thing permanently attached to him. I don’t need it at all, but if they include it I hope it’s an accessory.
