But they didn’t sell. I think the past year has been the worst for SW sales since the line was relaunched in 1995.

The choices have been great (especially for fans of the OT background characters and redone basics) but I think the fact they they ARE down to extremely minor character choices shows how exhausted the license is.

Although I’m bummed we still don’t have Valance and Jaxxon figures! C’mon, Hasbro!

I’m not sure if its disagreeing because I’m probably not seeing the bigger picture, but last year was a great year (IMHO) for Star Wars basic figures. There were multiple kick ass waves where I couldn’t bear to pass on even one figure. And the Clone Wars line (which I don’t collect) seemed to have done pretty well, too.

But otherwise, so true about the licensed toys not being worth a damn. And here’s to hoping TRU can keep heading in the right direction. Best of luck to them!

would agree that most of the predictions came true last year the toy industry due to the economy got in trouble but that was also due to the high price of oil to make stuff. plus ever green licenses like star wars faultered due to people not having the extra income to spend on toys. as for Hasbro and Mattel merging never. happen for it would wind up with anti trust issues. for after all even the toy industry has to walk through darkness to find light
