Pre-TF2012: Thundercats
February 10, 2012

This is the last of my admittedly self-indulgent series of Pre-Toy Fair articles looking at the lines that I’m most excited about. Toy Fair kicks off tomorrow with the Hasbro presentation, and then gets into full gear on Sunday. I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the news to start coming in!Now, one of my favorite lines from this past year was Bandai’s 4″ Thundercats line. I absolutely love the new animated series (and am currently going through withdrawls during this little hiatus) and think the toys are pretty swell.

If I had any complaints about the line so far it’s that it hasn’t delved very deep into the new world being established tin the series. We got the main cast, which is great. We got our bad guy in both forms. Again, great. And we are just starting to see the possibilities this line possesses with characters such as Claudus and Tygus. However, the series has introduced so many unique characters that are just begging to be made into toys. I’m hoping that this year we’ll start seeing that character depth introduced into the line.

There’s also plenty of versions of the main cast that can still be mined for future figures, including younger versions of Lion-O, Tygra and Cheetara. There’s the generic Thunderan guards who would make fantastic army builders. Of course, Jaga is a must as well.

So, I’ve got the fingers crossed for some sweet reveals this week from our friends at Bandai. Now,what would really make me happy would be a 4″ line based on the Classic series.

How about you?

I too am going through a TCats hiatus withdrawl. I have yet to pick up any of the 4″ line, though. I know I’m going to be kicking myself in a few months when I can no longer find any of the first wave. For whatever reasons, I’m still on the fence…

i hope they finaly show at least prototypes of jaga and cheetara from the new show and also in the classic line either Tigra and Grune and Claudus for the cartoon line though what would really be cool a new version of the legendary mad bubbler in the classic line.

If anyone is on the fence about picking up Thundercats figures, check your local Target. Both 4″ and the recent 6″ Mumm Ra and new Lion-O have recently gone clearance. I picked up Grune (the deluxe version) and Mumm Ra for 4.00 and 6.00 respectivly. Might help someone decide since they’re over half off retail.
