Solaris – Yes, the DC 1 Million Villain – is Coming!
August 18, 2015

Solaris is coming.  Solaris, the living sun, is coming.  Solaris, who has taken the place of one of the outer gas giants in our solar system, is coming.  Solaris, who is from 1 millions months from when DC started publishing comics, is coming.  Yes, soon you will be able to own a sun.  A nasty tyrant sun, but a sun none the less.  Solaris was the main villain from the DC 1 Million crossover event in the late 90’s.

And this time, he’s not alone.  Continuing the firey reference,  Solaris has brought along Brimstone, kind of a walking nuclear reactor.  I met Brimstone for the first time during another crossover, Legends.  Brimstone also made a brief appearance in the animated movie version of Superman / Batman: Public Enemies.  Like a number of the other villains in that big scene of dozens of villains there to collect a bounty on our big blue boy scout, his presence there makes very little sense.  But because his appearance is so brief, many did not question it.

More? How about a giant gorilla with glowing green eyes? Could that be Titano, the gorilla with Kryptonite vision?  Yes it is.  I don’t remember Titano having eye blasts, but it is such a cool and crazy concept, I’m going to say go for it.  Then again, the most recent version of Titano I can remember is from the Superman Animated Series.

Finally, lets go back to Public Enemies.  Near the end of the story, our heroes go to find the new Toyman and borrow his brand new Superman / Batman robot.  A colossal robot that seems to come right out of the 60’s era of comics with a 90’s upgrade.  Its a giant robot.  1/2 Superman, 1/2 Batman.  What more do you need to know? And if your are a fan, I know you want to own it.

These colossal figures, blind boxed one to a box, are just the icing on the cake that is the next set of Heroclix, named Superman / Wonder Woman.  In the typical 5 figure boosters, you can expect to find Superman characters, Wonder Woman characters, Red Son story versions of the big guns as chase figures.  Modern era Earth 2 characters.  New Gods.  Olympians.  Yeah, this set is going to be good.  Coming your way this November.

Erik "Superfriend" Skov
"Gathered together from the four corners of the universe." Oh, wait, that's the show, not me. Erik "SuperFriend" Skov never actually got to appear on the show, although he did watch it every week. Erik spent 6 years working for Hasbro in Pawtucket, RI before leaving for a job that paid more (Why else would a collector leave the company that was making Star Wars, Transformers, and while I was there Batman). I used to post all over the net. These days I tend to hang my hat at AFI.
