Something BIG from Heroclix…A Super-Booster Reveal!
March 15, 2011

This week the gang at Wizkids are getting a little too big for their britches.  And by big, I mean GIANT.   They are at long last raising the curtain on their Giant Sized X-Men super-boosters and they have asked AFi to help.

This week there will be a series of three reveals leading up to the debut of the entire super-booster line up.  Yesterday our friends at revealed the Apocalypse super-booster, today we get to do the BIG reveal (below) and tomorrow there will be one more reveal on  Then, come back here to AFi at 12:01am on Thursday 17th and see our feature on the complete super-booster line up. We will give you your first look at all of the new super-boosters in the Giant Sized X-men set.

That’s not all!  You will also have a chance not only to win one of four of these Sentinel Mark V super-boosters, but you will also have a chance to win a full SET of the super boosters!  Details on Thursday!

Enough chatter!  Now onto the big reveal!

The Sentinel Mark V!

Towering above your regular X-Men Heroclix the Sentinel Mark V clocks in at an impressive 6"!  The Mark V was first seen way back on 1983 in New Mutants #2.   These distinctively colored Sentinel upgrades were created by the Sebatian Shaw as part of "Project: Wide-awake" and sent to attack the New Mutants team.  The other major upgrade to this unit were the Frigi-Beams that would freeze their opponents.

The Wizkids team have done an incredible job on these super-boosters.  I’m only allowed to talk about this one today, but as you will see on Thursday they have really raised the bar on the entire set.  The sculpt is dynamite and captures a moment where the Sentinel has frozen Cannonball in mid-attack.

What’s that you say?  You don’t want your Sentinel Mark V attacking Cannonball every time you use him?   Well, Wizkids thought of that too and include a swappable fist so he’s ready to take on all opponents!

The Sentinel Mark V comes with the two hands (frigi-blast and fist), his dial and an info card explaining his moves, powers and abilities.

Aw, heck!   Let’s go ahead and give one of these away today.  Here’s what you need to do to win-

Daniel Pickett
Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since. In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field. Daniel was regularly featured on “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network as the primary contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our front page has been linked to from USA Today’s “Pop Candy” Blog twice. Daniel’s content has also been featured on,,, Boing-Boing,, Ain’t It Cool News, the Official Star Wars blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet and Toy Fare magazine, among many others. He has consulted on toy lines, books, documentaries and TV shows. But all of that really just sounds snooty and “tootin’ his own horn” – the long and short of it is that Daniel loves toys and he LOVES talking about them.
