AFi 5th Anniversary Scoop Week Reveal #6 – SpyMonkey Creation New Accessory Reveal!
April 30, 2010

New Accessories from SpyMonkey Creations!

Last week Man of Action Jeremy "SpyMagician" Sung posted an awesome blog about people that are custom making and selling custom accessories and figures for sale.  This is a field that SpyMagician knows a lot about because he is one of the co-founders of SpyMonkey Creations, who have been making professional level custom made figure accessories for about a year.

You can see some reviews of SpyMonkey’s previous offerings here, here and here.   As you can see everyone that has gotten any of SMC’s previous offerings have been very happy with them.

I can understand that some folks might be a little skeptical ordering custom anything without ever seeing them.  We’ve all been burned ordering something that LOOKS cool in pictures but stinks when you get it in hand.  That is NOT the case with the SMC accessories.  I have watched everyone of them being developed and have held each one of the reveal below in my hands and I can tell you they will exceed your expectations with what can be done with custom accessories.

I’m proud and honored that our friends at SpyMonkey are allowing AFi to debut their next round of accessories –

The Villain’s Shield of Destruction and The Hero’s Shield of Deliverance

All of these weapons are expertly crafted to order and will make a great addition to any pre-existing 5-7 inch action figure OR provide a great accessory to any incomplete or custom action figure or to any action figure collection.  These are really well done.  They are all cast in the correct color or resin as the figure and accessories you might think they might go with.  They each feature a center jewel that has also been hand chose to correspond with the correct figure.

These new weapons will be offered in these distinct versions:

The Purple/Blue Diamond Blue Venom VersionSo your main rival has a shield, but all you have is a havoc staff?  Let’s even up the score as we battle for Power Swords.  You deserve a shield too.

The Orange/Red Crystal- Doppelganger Version only a FAKER would parade around with this version of the shield that has a cracked/damaged version of the center crystal.

The Green/Orange Eye of Doom VersionJust TRI to guess which 3-eyed henchman would look AWESOME holding this shield that is adorned with a real taxidermy animal eye.

The Gold/Blue Crystal-  Golden Royal Version This version is fit for a KING and perfectly matches the other weapons that come with a royal figure.

The Orange/Green Crystal- Weapons Master Version MAN! There are a lot of guards that would love to get their ARMS around this version
of the shield.

These shields will go on sale on – May 17, 2010 at the Spy Monkey Creations Inc. website.

As soon as I get my set of these I’ll post pictures of them so you can see how great these look with your 6"-7" action figures.

Daniel Pickett
Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since. In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field. Daniel was regularly featured on “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network as the primary contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our front page has been linked to from USA Today’s “Pop Candy” Blog twice. Daniel’s content has also been featured on,,, Boing-Boing,, Ain’t It Cool News, the Official Star Wars blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet and Toy Fare magazine, among many others. He has consulted on toy lines, books, documentaries and TV shows. But all of that really just sounds snooty and “tootin’ his own horn” – the long and short of it is that Daniel loves toys and he LOVES talking about them.
