January 11, 2018—Dynamite Entertainment is proud to announce their first statue collaboration with legendary artist Joseph Michael Linsner, bringing his iconic creation Dawn to her full 3-D glory with Rvckvs International—leading up to celebrate her 30th anniversary! Backers of this incredible limited edition statue can help Dynamite reach their goal on Kickstarter, while earning rewards chosen to delight fans of this unique and seductive character: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dynamiteent/dawn-statue-by-joseph-michael-linsner?ref=9rmfl8
Dawn, the Goddess of Rebirth, has been one of the most enduring characters in independent comics since her creation by Linsner in the late 1980s. While many independent comic characters have slowly drifted into obscurity, Dawn has continued to inspire fans with her strength, intelligence, and charm!
“We’ve been working with Joe for over 20 years, and our close relationship has led to some great collaborations,” said Dynamite Entertainment CEO/Publisher Nick Barrucci. “Being able to work closely with Joe to create this statue in advance of Dawn’s 30th anniversary was an exciting idea for me, and we’re thrilled about the results. Our designer, Georg Brewer, continues to impress us with the work he does, and he continues to bring our work to the next level. We have no doubt Dawn fans will agree when they see it for themselves.”
“I’m very excited about Dynamite’s new Dawn statue,” said Linsner. “Dawn has many different looks, but this may be her most popular outfit. I think it is the one which I have seen cosplayed the most.”
With original creator Joseph Michael Linsner offering guidance every step of the way, Dynamite has worked closely with Rvckvs International—the talented artists behind the sensational Women of Dynamite Statue series—to bring this iconic comic book goddess to life. The final result shows their incredible attention to detail: from the three tears running from her left eye to the skulls along her famous curves, this is the Dawn millions of fans have loved for nearly three decades.
Backers of Dynamite’s Dawn statue can choose from a treasure trove of rewards specially chosen for fans, including the complete Dawn Vampirella comic collection, the upcoming 2018 Dawn Sketchbook featuring the work of Joseph Michael Linsner (an annual tradition released directly to fans via Kickstarter for the first time), a limited-edition print signed by Linsner, and even a special “Black and White” variant of the statue! Transformers vs. Visionaries #1 Sells Out at Distributor http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/transformers-vs-visionaries-1-sells-out-at-distributor/ http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/transformers-vs-visionaries-1-sells-out-at-distributor/#comments Mon, 08 Jan 2018 12:00:14 +0000 http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/?p=163555 Second Printing of the Critically Hailed Debut Coming Soon

San Diego, CA (January 5, 2018) – The Transformers robots may have met their match in the recently launched series TRANSFORMERS VS. VISIONARIES. After teasing their arrival throughout the latter half of 2017, the Visionaries have officially entered the shared Hasbro comic book universe and are taking on the Transformers Robots in Disguise. The debut shocked fans with a dramatic cliffhanger and garnered widespread acclaim, resulting in a sold-out issue at the distributor level and a second printing ordered.

Scripted by Eisner-nominated writer Magdalene Visaggio (Kim & Kim) with art by fan-favorite Fico Ossio (Revolution), colors by David Garcia Cruz, and letters by Gilberto Lazcano, this hotly anticipated debut is a can’t-miss, pivotal issue, instantly earning its place in any Transformers and Visionaries fan’s essential collection. It’s the perfect jumping on point for new readers to join in the fun and adventure while also providing longtime fans with some exciting developments in the ongoing saga.

After their home planet of Cybertron is invaded, the Transformers bots encounter unwelcome guests… Refugees from another world, the Visionaries’ startling magical abilities could make them powerful allies… or dangerous enemies. It all starts here with the death of a beloved character!

“It’s been amazing seeing the outpouring of love for the story Mags, Fico, and the team have created, as well as the outpouring of love for the dearly departed Kup,” said IDW Associate Editor, David Mariotte. “And things are only just getting started. There’ll be more action, excitement, and drama to come.”

A second printing of the debut issue of Transformers vs. Visionaries #1 (cover art featured here) will arrive on January 31, 2018, the same day issue #2 goes on sale.

DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES UPCOMING LAUNCH OF NEW GREEN HORNET SERIES http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/dynamite-entertainment-announces-upcoming-launch-of-new-green-hornet-series/ http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/dynamite-entertainment-announces-upcoming-launch-of-new-green-hornet-series/#respond Thu, 21 Dec 2017 14:00:15 +0000 http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/?p=162901 Amy Chu and German Erramouspe Set to Serve as Creative Team for the New Series Set Debuting in March

December 19, 2017, Mt. Laurel, NJ:  Dynamite Entertainment is pleased to announce they will be adding a new entry into the Green Hornet universe, as the prolific and talented Amy Chu, best known for her work on Red Sonja, KISS, and Poison Ivy, has been tapped to serve as writer for the upcoming series. Chu will be joined by artist German Erramouspe (Night of the Living Dead: Aftermath, Rancat) for the upcoming March 2018 release.

Britt Reid Jr., the scion of the Daily Sentinel publishing empire, vanishes during a wild party on his friend’s yacht. Meanwhile, crime spikes in the streets of Century City with the mysterious criminal/secret vigilante the Green Hornet absent.  It’s only a matter of time before SOMEONE puts two and two together, and it’s up to Kato, former partner of Britt’s father, and his daughter Mulan to protect the city AND the Green Hornet legacy, while finding out what happened to Britt.  Writer Amy Chu picks up where Kevin Smith left off with an action-packed mystery!
Writer Amy Chu says, “The Green Hornet was one of the top titles on my bucket list to write, so I’m really thrilled to dive in. I’ve been listening to the old radio shows from the ’30s and trying to bring back some of the good guy vs bad guy elements of what made it popular in the ’30s. But this is not a pure nostalgia trip- there’s a lot of modern twists.  My parent’s generation in Hong Kong liked Green Hornet because of Bruce Lee as Kato so I’m weaving in some solid martial arts action too.”
Amy Chu writes comics – and only – comics! Following a successful run heading the first-ever Poison Ivy mini-series for DC Comics, Chu began crafting multiple series for Dynamite Entertainment including Red Sonja and KISS. Chu also writes and produces comics for several non-profits including The New York Historical Society, The Baltimore Museum of Art, Pop Culture Classroom, and The Museum of Chinese in America. In her spare time, Chu can be found serving as a frequent speaker/panel moderator/guest at the top industry conventions including San Diego Comic Con, New York Comic Con, Heroes Con, and the Emerald City Comic Con and Fan Expo.
Artist German Erramouspe says, “When I read the beginning of the script for the first issue of this new series, Amy Chu proposed to me that we could make this version of Green Hornet with a noir style, something in the vein of Eduard Hopper’s painting, Nighthawks. Hopper is one of my favorite artists, so with this in mind, I know that this first chapter is going to be really stimulating for me when I go to the drawing table and begin working on it! I can give to Kato and the Green Hornet, two characters that I really enjoy, and am really excited to draw, a somber feeling!  I hope the readers can enjoy this new beginning as much as I’m enjoying drawing it! And feel how the night is dyed in a darkest green once again!”
Germán Erramouspe, who was born in 1981 Argentina, is a comic artist who made his debut was on a mini-series El Hombre Primordial before working on several titles for Avatar Press, including Disenchanted, Night of the Living Dead: Aftermath, Crossed: Badlands, God is Dead, and Dark Gods. More recently, Erramouspe has worked with Dynamite Entertainment on Grimm Vol.2, and is currently working with French publisher StoneBots Comics on his graphic novel, Rancat.
“We are so proud to once again take on the world of one of comic’s most beloved and eternal characters with our new Green Hornet series,” says Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher for Dynamite. “And with the ever-talented Amy Chu at the helm, we’re certain this series will be one of 2018’s biggest success stories!”
The debut issue of Green Hornet features a wide selection of cover variants, providing fans and retailers with the freedom of choice! Four art covers feature the talents of Mike Choi (X-Men, Cable), Carli Ihde (KISS/Vampirella, Sheena), Mike McKone (The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers, Iron Fist), and CP Wilson III (Deadpool, G.I. Joe, The Shadow), respectively. Limited variant editions in “Black & White” and “Virgin Art” formats are also available as retailer incentives for comic shops that support the launch issue by achieving stocking thresholds.

Green Hornet #1 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ January 2018 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in March. Comic book fans are encouraged to reserve copies of Green Hornet #1 with their local comic book retailers. Green Hornet #1 will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, Madefire, and Dark Horse Digital.

Following the events of the DC/Young Animal crossover event “Milk Wars” this winter, the main titles of the DC’s Young Animal line will get a mix-up of their own, with new series titles and story directions. The pop-up imprint, curated by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, continues to set the bar for innovation in comics, using the five-part event beginning January 31 to send each title back to #1, with strange and crazy new stories.

“Young Animal is back to bringing the weird, with all your favorite characters going in drastically new directions not even they could expect,” says Way. “Find out what these characters are up to now, and how they’ve hit their next level of evolution.”

Beginning March 7, Shade has shed her alien identity, stepping out of her original Earth body into a new one. SHADE, THE CHANGING WOMAN begins as Loma, now free of the burdens of her past life, sets out to see more of her new home. But how will she cope when the madness she was forced to confront in the Milk Wars is now a mass of memory and confusion? To make things even more challenging, she’ll come face to face with the original Changing Man. Writer Cecil Castellucci and artist Marley Zarcone will continue to helm Loma’s adventures.

Then on March 21, after a year of multiverse-hopping, Cave Carson returns to a normal life of digging and cave-diving, but it just isn’t the same for the explorer. Time fast-forwards as Cave and his daughter Chloe are sucked into an all-new adventure—literally—when they go spelunking in a black hole! CAVE CARSON HAS AN INTERSTELLAR EYE continues with writer Jon Rivera and artist Michael Avon Oeming.

Then on March 28, follow Violet Paige as she finds herself in a Gotham City unlike anything she’s known before. MOTHER PANIC: GOTHAM A.D. begins ten years into the future, in a world without a Batman, with Gotham City now in the hands of a Collective. In a high-tech town with zero tolerance toward caped crusaders, what’s a woman who has vowed vengeance to do? The series is written by Jody Houser with art by Tommy Lee Edwards and Ibrahim Moustafa (SAVAGE THINGS).

Launching from the backup story in “Milk Wars” is ETERNITY GIRL, a new miniseries from GLAAD Award-nominated writer Magdalene Visaggio (Kim & Kim) and Eisner Award-winning artist Sonny Liew (The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye). The series follows the tragedy of Caroline Sharp, a former superhero and super-spy whose cursed powers have left her hideously deformed and unable to die! Her only solution? Destroy the universe. This new series begins March 7.

The “Milk Wars” event kicks off in JLA/DOOM PATROL SPECIAL #1 on January 31. The epically weird crossover adventure featuring characters from the JLA and DC’s Young Animal will continue throughout February.

San Diego, CA (December 5, 2017) – Who is DAWN MORENO? She’s the new SNAKE-EYES and break-out character of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero! Scripted by legendary G.I. JOE writer Larry Hama, with art by incoming artist Netho Diaz (Aquaman), issue #246 marks the beginning of the “Dawn of the Arashikage” storyline, which sees Dawn, a Mexican-American teenager, take on the mantle of Snake-Eyes, one of the most iconic members of the G.I. Joe team. This pivotal issue in Hama’s long-running G.I. Joe saga has now sold out at the distributor level, as have the preceding issues #244 (featuring Dawn’s first appearance in costume) and #245 (Dawn’s first cover appearance in costume as Snake-Eyes).

Dawn Moreno, who debuted in G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #226, was once a gifted high school athlete whose unique physical abilities drew the attention of Cobra Commander. The Cobra elite put Dawn under intense experimentation, accidentally implanting the memories of the original (and now deceased) Snake-Eyes into Dawn’s fragile teenage mind. Now, as a haunted Dawn struggles against visions of a dark past that does not truly belong to her, Snake-Eyes’ longtime ninja comrades from the Arashikage Clan have joined together to help Dawn overcome the waking nightmare her young life has become…

“As I recently told our readers, Dawn Moreno is a fascinating character who provides me with a brand-new canvas to paint on,” said Hama. “With the original Snake-Eyes’ memories implanted into her young mind, Dawn gives me a whole new way of looking at character qualities (both her own and those of Snake-Eyes) that isn’t bogged down by accumulated continuity with a new character, who can voice things that were always left unsaid.”

Issue #226 featuring Dawn’s first appearance is sold out, but fans can jump on board with G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Volume 16, which collects that issue and marks the beginning of her journey to becoming Snake-Eyes. To meet demand, a second printing of issue #246 will be rushed to the printer, featuring the special Netho Diaz cover art seen here.

DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES NEW JAMES BOND: M ONE-SHOT http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/dynamite-entertainment-announces-new-james-bond-m-one-shot/ http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/dynamite-entertainment-announces-new-james-bond-m-one-shot/#respond Wed, 22 Nov 2017 20:00:36 +0000 http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/?p=161895 Writer Declan Shalvey and Artist PJ Holden Tapped to Serve as  Creative Team Behind the All-New 007 One-Shot!

November 21, 2017, Mt. Laurel, NJ:  Dynamite Entertainment and Ian Fleming Publications Ltd. are pleased to announce that superstar writer Declan Shalvey (Deadpool Vs. Old Man Logan, Savage Town) and artist PJ Holden (2000 AD, Judge Dredd) have been tapped to helm the latest entry into the James Bond universe with James Bond: M. The new one-shot will delve into the back-story of Bond’s superior, M, and his time in the field prior to his ascension as head of England’s MI6. The standalone story, which features 40-pages of heart-stopping international intrigue and espionage, is set for launch in February 2018!

James Bond’s superior, code-named M, scrambles MI6’s secret agents across the globe. Sometimes, he knowingly sends them to their deaths, for the greater good. But a traumatic event from M’s early days in the field returns to haunt him, forcing M to return to Belfast, the scene of a crime…HIS crime.

Writer Declan Shalvey says, “I’m delighted to play around in the Bond playpen for this one-shot. Myself and PJ Holden have talked a lot about what we’d like to see in this story, we want to take a British spy and put him in a world that is both foreign and familiar. Belfast is such a unique place and a really great opportunity to do something different with a Bond character yet will still feel very much of that world. PJ is such a fantastic storyteller, I’m excited to see what he does with this story, being from Belfast himself. I love one-shots, and I know that PJ, along with Dearbhla Kelly are going to make this a beautiful package.”

Raised in the West of Ireland, a graduate of Limerick School of Art and Design, and winner of an Eagle Award for Hero Killer, his first published comic, Declan Shalvey’s first professional work was in the UK scene with noir indie-books and adaptations of classical literature. He later came to prominence in the American market with his moody, atmospheric work with his arc on Moon Knight. He has since worked with several large publishers to write the hit series Civil War II, Deadpool vs Old Man Logan, and Venomverse: War Stories.

Artist PJ Holden says, “Look I’ve walked the streets of Belfast checking dead letter drops and wanting to be a super spy since I was 7 years old, I’m pumped and primed for this. Bringing Bond’s boss M to Belfast is the job I was born for.”

PJ Holden is a Belfast-based artist that began his comic book career in 1997 with Fantagraphic’s Holy Cross #3, before finding critical acclaim 3 years later for his work on 2000 AD and Judge Dredd. Holden saw his big break in the America market with his mini-series Fearless before forming his own company, Infurious Comics, which aims to produce mobile comics for iOS devices, Holden himself designed the Comic Reader App in order to facilitate the project, which the BBC referred to as one of “four pioneering web innovations” flying the flag for UK digital innovation.

“It is always such an honor to work with a master like Declan Shalvey, and we’re excited to see his unique take on the Bond Universe and working together again with PJ (Holden),” says Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher for Dynamite. “We’re certain that with his unbelievable ability to craft an intricate story, combined with the stunning artwork of PJ Holden, M’s long overdue profile will be as superior as the character himself!”

In 2014, Dynamite Entertainment made headlines across the comics industry and beyond with the news that the New Jersey publisher had secured the license from Ian Fleming Publications Ltd to produce the first James Bond comics in 20 years. The first series, Vargr, written by Transmetropolitan writer Warren Ellis, launched the following year to widespread critical acclaim, and was a breakout success in the comics specialty market. Subsequent James Bond story lines include Ales Kot’s The Body, Jody Houser’s Moneypenny, Diggle and Casalanguida’s Hammerhead and Kill Chain, James Robinson and Aaron Campbell’s Felix Leiter, Benjamin Percy and Rapha Lobosco’s Black Box, and Kieron Gillen and Antonio Fuso’s Service.

James Bond: M will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ December 2017 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in February 2018. Comic book fans are encouraged to reserve copies of James Bond: M with their local comic book retailers. James Bond: M will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, Madefire, and Dark Horse Digital.
