The VOID and ILMxLAB Unveil New Hyper-Reality Production Slate Including Experiences from the Upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios Film “Ralph Breaks the Internet” and Marvel Studios

Multi-sensory, fully immersive experiences featuring “Ralph Breaks VR” and an adventure from Marvel Studios produced by ILMxLAB are coming to The VOID experience centers

LINDON, Utah–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The VOID, the global leader in multi-sensory location-based experiences, and ILMxLAB, Lucasfilm’s award-winning immersive entertainment division, announced today their upcoming hyper-reality production slate to be released through 2019. The two companies will collaborate on five original Disney IP hyper-reality experiences, the first two to be created in collaboration with Walt Disney Animation Studios and Marvel Studios:

  • Ralph Breaks VR coming Fall 2018
  • Untitled Marvel experience coming in 2019

The overwhelming success of Star Wars™: Secrets of the Empire has made it clear there is a high demand for world class hyper-reality experiences set within beloved Disney universes. As a result, ILMxLAB has been named as the exclusive producer for the Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios hyper-reality experiences and three more Disney titles to follow, in collaboration with The VOID.

“Partnering with the creative teams at ILMxLAB & The VOID on this new type of immersive storytelling adventure is an exciting opportunity. For the first time, we will give fans the chance to walk into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and interact with some of their favorite characters,” said Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios.

“Our filmmakers and the terrific people at ILMxLAB have collaborated to bring an incredible hyper-real experience, for all ages, to The VOID,” said Oscar®-winning “Ralph Breaks the Internet” producer Clark Spencer. “We can’t wait for people to be immersed in the worlds of the internet and online gaming with Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope.”

“At ILMxLAB, we are truly excited for fans to ‘Step Inside Our Stories’ by extending our award-winning creative collaboration with The VOID across The Walt Disney Company. Together, we will soon invite guests into other beloved Disney franchises where they can explore rich worlds, engage with compelling characters, embark upon heart-pounding adventures, and indulge the senses — experiencing the magic as never before,” said Vicki Dobbs Beck, ILMxLAB Executive in Charge.

“Working with our friends at ILMxLAB to help bring Star Wars fans directly into that galaxy far, far away in such a strong creative process, it became apparent we needed to continue on this path as The VOID establishes itself as a leader in location-based entertainment,” said Craig Watson, Chairman & CEO of The VOID. “This is just the beginning of our collaboration with ILMxLAB, Marvel Studios, and Walt Disney Animation Studios as together we broaden the possibilities for immersive storytelling experiences to reach places previously only available in the imagination.”

Additional experience details including specific release dates, locations, trailers and ticket availability will be announced at a later date. Tickets for Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire are available at www.thevoid.com and “Ralph Breaks the Internet” is in theaters November 21, 2018.

Daniel Pickett
Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since. In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website www.ActionFigureInsider.com. Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field. Daniel was regularly featured on “Attack of the Show” on the G4 network as the primary contributor to their “Mint On Card” segment, and our front page has been linked to from USA Today’s “Pop Candy” Blog twice. Daniel’s content has also been featured on MSNBC.com, Time.com, The Wall Street Journal, The Saturday Evening Post, CNN.com, AssociatedPress.com Wired.com, Fark.com, Boing-Boing, Gizmodo.com, Ain’t It Cool News, the Official Star Wars blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet and Toy Fare magazine, among many others. He has consulted on toy lines, books, documentaries and TV shows. But all of that really just sounds snooty and “tootin’ his own horn” – the long and short of it is that Daniel loves toys and he LOVES talking about them.
