Brand is Finalist in Three Categories to be Awarded at New York City Ceremony


Los Angeles, Calif. – October 8, 2013 – tokidoki, the global pop culture brand, is thrilled be a finalist in the 3rd -Annual Designer Toy awards.  Sponsored by Clutter Media Group, the ceremony will take place at the Hudson Terrace in New York this Saturday, October 12, 2013.

Released in Holiday, 2012, the tokidoki 5” vinyl DIY Unicorno which comes with three tokidoki character Sharpies® – Adios Black, Bruttino Blue, and Stellina Magenta is nominated for ‘Best DIY Platform.’

Nominated in the ‘Best Mini-Series’ category is the Unicorno Series 2.  Released in Holiday, 2012, each 2” PVC Unicorno is sold in a blind box promoting collectability of all 11 characters.

tokidoki’s third nomination goes to its creative director Simone Legno, nominated for ‘Artist of the Year.’ Drawing since childhood, the boxes of chewed, broken and unsharpened pencils Legno adored then were the beginnings of a passion for art. Simone showcased his art via his personal portfolio online ( which caught the attention of his co-founders Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnold, as they immediately knew that Simone’s art would translate onto consumer goods in an unprecedented, iconic fashion. In 2003, with their support, Simone moved to Los Angeles and in 2005, the now internationally renowned brand tokidoki was born.

Daniel “Julius Marx” Pickett has been around toys his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s World’s Greatest Super Heroes line back in the 70s. He has been surrounded by collectables ever since. In 1999 he was confounded by a lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines he was collecting. Since he couldn’t find the information he decided to pursue it himself thinking other people might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the toy industry and action figure for a toy news site and in a years time he tripled the sites daily traffic with his updates, reviews and product features. He built relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He grew his hobby into a world wide expertise that the industry has embraced. In 2004 he teamed up with his toy buddy Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and they created their own website Daniel has been quoted in both industry and mass media press outlets. Over the years Daniel and AFi have been sought out as experts in the field.
