Who Are the People in Your Neighborhood?
July 20, 2009

I know everyone is waiting for SDCC.  While you do, here is a look back at the people I met at NYCC.

The Man of Steel

I seem to recall there were 4 Ghost Busters …

This reminds me that when I was at Toy Fair one year they had Volkswagon Beetles modified to look like Pikachu, bright yellow with a huge electric tail coming out the back.

The Fett Family Reunion.

TMNTP: Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtles … People

And finally, the ONE true Green Lantern, hanging out where?  Where else, the Mattel booth.  Probably negotiating the use of his likeness for an upcoming figure.

While at the Mattel booth I also met Scott and Bill from Mattel and 2 Erics of the 4 Horsemen.  What did I say to them?  With Scott and Bill I plugged for Static in JLU and we discussed how there are actually 4 designs to choose from. With Eric and Eric I plugged for Superboy in DCUC, specifically the clone Superboy in his original costume from Reign of the Supermen.  They told me I had nothing to worry about.

Erik "Superfriend" Skov
"Gathered together from the four corners of the universe." Oh, wait, that's the show, not me. Erik "SuperFriend" Skov never actually got to appear on the show, although he did watch it every week. Erik spent 6 years working for Hasbro in Pawtucket, RI before leaving for a job that paid more (Why else would a collector leave the company that was making Star Wars, Transformers, and while I was there Batman). I used to post all over the net. These days I tend to hang my hat at AFI.

Why is GL flipping you off?

    • Erik superfriend says:

He’s not. He’s posing. Its a tough Guy look. Never thought about it like that until you mentioned it. The guy in the costume was actually kind of cool. We talked about comics and actions figures for a while. What impressed me was he had the costume done right. Right to the moon boots.
